An injury I just have to wait out, or can I put on a brace?

My forearms are bothering me and have been for a while. I think I strained them lifting a heavy and ungainly laundry basket a few weeks ago, and they haven't felt right since. Now whenever I lift anything, even my boombox, they hurt. Especially right next to my elbows.

Do I have to wait this out, or are there braces I can protect them with if I want to do some light weight work? My knee brace helps with my aerobics, so I thought maybe it was possible to try the same with a forearm/elbow brace.

Thanks!

Give it two weeks, if it's not getting better go see a doctor. You could even try a course (twice daily for a week) of paracetamol to see if it resets the inflammation.
Ive had chronic pain in the past that I ignored. Couldn't work out for 3 years (couldn't even walk for a while). So trust me, when you really need to rest something, please don't ignore it.
  • You're a coach and you injured yourself doing laundry? Is this a real question? Only you know if it's bad enough to see a dr. If there's a question, just call your dr.

That sounds a lot like the tendonitis I was getting a few years ago. Would just come on out of nowhere and POW! Rest and OTC anti-inflammatories. If a week or two doesn't clear it up see the doctor for some stronger meds.

Yeah, actually it's an old cheering injury. No joke. All that arm snapping has always bothered my elbows, but the pull feels like it made it worse.

Yeah, I will try resting it some more then. No insurance means no doc, and I don't want to risk making it worse. Was just really excited about maybe starting to lift a little weight

Yeah, I'll keep taking the Aleve and resting it. No insurance so I can't see the doc right now, so it's up to me to heal it up as best I can.

I really had wanted to start lifting thought because a) I need to get stronger for my job, and b) last time I lost a lot of weight I turned into the saggy baggy elephant. LOL Just trying to do something to counteract that, even if it's just a little.

You can do lots of leg stuff and things that don't bother your arms :)

This is magic for any pain close to the elbow (or any other joint), all you need is an old bike inner tube instead of the more expensive 'Voodoo Floss'
