How to Get Back on Track?

So, my SW was 162, and then over the course of ten weeks or so, I made it down to 151. Now I'm back up to 156.
I've been eating crap, not counting anything, and haven't been exercising as much. How do you get back on track after having so much disappointment? I am someone who has NEVER lost weight; I just keep on gaining. Not to mention I suffer from severe depression, so it's pretty common for me to think "of course that would happen to me".
I do see a therapist, but I wanted to get help from some people who HAVE made it. How did you get back on track? Or, how did you get yourself to STAY on track?
Thanks.

Well you actually have lost weight- you just said you started at 162 and dropped to 151, so that is something. As for getting back on track, or staying on track, just remember that each day is a new beginning and new start. Plus if you blow it for one meal doesn't mean the whole day is shot. NEVER weigh yourself after you have blown it by eating, for example- Pizza Hut and ice cream the night before. Wait a few days to get back on track. I too have fallen off and back on again. I am starting to embrace the body positive movement - www.thebodypositive.org. It's all about just loving yourself - your whole self and accepting yourself. Now not to say that you can't be interested in getting healthy, but make it about how eating healthy and exercising makes you feel, not what the scale says or how you look. In this culture we have shamed fat people for too long, and without shaming skinny people, we need to love ourselves for all of our curves- people come in all different shapes and sizes. As for depression, exercise and sunshine are great to help ease this- they are natural mood enhancers. Exercise outside whenever you can. Good luck to you and I hope to use this site to draw from others to stay motivated for the long term and again to just focus on eating and staying healthy. That goes with loving yourself too- tell yourself you are worth taking care of- and that means putting healthy things into your body.0

Thank you. I will say that after I eat a salad or something else that is pretty healthy, I usually feel better overall. So I suppose I will try to remember that the whole eating healthy thing is better than for just weight loss and looking good. I will definitely keep the never weighing yourself right after you have splurged thing in mind, since I do have a tendency to be a bit of a masochist.
Thanks again! Anyone else have ideas as to how to stay motivated? I think if I can just keep track of my food, I can do it. The only issue is that sometimes I'm on the go and either forget to write my food down or just think "I'll do it later".0 -

Sounds like you've found your hook. Instead of concentrating solely on weight loss, concentrate on finding all the foods that make you feel better after you eat them. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. Make it your mission in life to fuel yourself with those optimal foods and you can't fail.0 -
Dramaqueen45 what a beautiful reply. Yes sunshine and a walk can lift depression..the more you do thecbetter you feel. The therapist will help you with the underlying issues but on a daily basis you will feel better if you can get out for a walk. I am testament to the fact that you can build positive experiences with positive thoughts and movements. You can do it. Of course it is hard otherwise everybody would be doing it.0

How about snapping a photo of your meals when you are the run...then you can go back and log your foods later in the day.
Logging foods, reaching for healthy choices than not so healthy are all behavioral changes and they can consistent repetition and focus I the beginning but eventually that will be second nature.0
