Weight goal for the taller ladies? 5'9" here

My first goal is 130 lbs, and I'm currently at 146.5. However, I was 126 before, and I liked how I looked then. So, I might shoot for 125. I'll see based on how I look at 130. From there I plan to do a bulking cycle which will obviously add more weight :)

Just curious what other tall ladies have for goals.

Uhhh...I'm 5'9 and my goal is 153. I'm pretty hot at 175 so I might not go down that low. Currently 210. Was 253.

130 is my goal. Can't really decide until I'm there, though. If it turns out that 120 would be better, I'll do that. If I'm happy at 130-140, I'll do that.

I have mini goals- well, things it look forward to, I guess.. I wanted to go under 200, then I wanted to hit 175.

But the end goal is around 130.

I'm 5'9" and my first goal is 175. Then maybe 150 if I'm not satisfied with how I look and feel
  • Hi I'm 5'9" and currently 190. Just started trying aagain!

My goal is 170. I've done this before and went as low as 165....but I think I liked how I looked at 170, so I'm aiming there for now.

Can't remember ever being below 160.????????

    5'11'' aiming for 170-175.

Still a long way to go. Once I get below 200 I'll reassess and see how I feel about it.

    I'm 5'8" and I'm shooting for 150. I've been a lot bigger (196), and a lot smaller (135), but I think I am most satisfied around 145-150. Currently 161.

    I'm 5'8 and my goal is 170, I'm at 192lbs at the mo.:noway:
  • I am 5' 10" and look positively willowy at 165. Below 150 I would look unwell. Everyone is built differently though and that is an important thing to consider. I carry a fair amount of muscle and have always tended to muscle fairly quickly. I have a sister who is the same height who likes to weigh about 130. At 165 she looks kind of puffy because she carries less muscle and doesn't pick it up as fast when working out.

I'm 5'8" and pretty happy at 150 (current weight) but I do feel better around 140 or a tad under, any less and I look emaciated.

Weight is relative. It should be more about body composition IMHO.

For example, I'm 5'8 and got down to 136 and looked terrible because I lost weight too fast and a lot of muscle went with it.

I bulked up to 144 and gained some muscle.

Now I'm cutting and I'm down to 138 and look a million times better. I plan on doing more bulk/cut cycles until I'm happy with my body composition.

Moral of the story, don't necessarily put so much into a goal weight. Focus more on body fat percentage and body composition.

I'm 5'11 and shooting for 175. It's been a loooong time since I've been around that weight though so I may have to tweak that as we start to get closer.

I'm 5'8 and looking to weigh about 125. I'm at 131 right now. But after reaching the goal I'll probably add some muscle.
  • The ideal weight for a 5'9 woman is 145 lbs! I have read on here that a lot of people are going lower
  • Hi ladies :)
I'm 6' and first just aiming for 195, I've been above 200 for too long! I don't think I could ever get below 170... I've always been strong and gain muscle easily. I'll be happy at 180 I think :)

I'm 5'10.5" and my weight goal is somewhere between 160lb and 170lb. The range is so big because I'm not sure what will be maintainable and/or healthy there. My WeightWatchers goal was 174, but I could stand to take off a bit more on top of that.

    I am 5'10, 131/132Ibs, 12% bodyfat.
I am pretty much sticking where I am, give or take a few Ibs.

Body composition is more important, imo, than a token number on the scale.
One can be the lowest weight for a height and still carry an amount of fat that results in the individual being dissatisfied with their appearance. I have seen that happen quite a lot here.

5'11" and shooting for around 150, but honestly I have no idea what I'll look like/ be happy at. I was the same height during my late teens and a size smaller than I am now, but I certainly didn't look thin. Especially next to regular folk. Grrrrr

I'm 5' 8.5" My goal is 145, but it depends on how much lean mass I hang onto, 145 is very thin for me and drops my boobs from overflowing DD to large C(yay cute bras) did last time I was at that weight anyways, hoping they go back down...

5'9 and i'd like to be anywhere between 160-170. i'm at 222 now, was 250
  • One doctor, who knows nothing about me beyond one urgent care visit, insisted I need to weigh five pounds less than whatever my lowest adult weight ever was. About 25 years ago, I was 108 lbs at 5'9" at the time. I'm 5'8.5" now due to a broken back (compression fractures L4-L5) about 10 years ago, and age, I'm sure. So that means he would like me to be 103 lbs. He said that regardless of height, there's no excuse whatsoever for any woman to wear clothes in double digit sizes. Ever.

My regular doctor, who knows pretty much everything there is to know about me and my health and wellbeing, has told me time and again that according to all of my blood work and other criteria she evaluates, I have no weight related health problems, so I should aim for whatever previous adult weight at which I felt good and was satisfied with my appearance. I feel best and think I look best somewhere between 165-175 lbs. This is still above the healthy bmi range, but it translates (on my body, but probably not other women's bodies) to about a size 12, which suits me just fine.

I'm 5'9 and a half, my goal weight is 155, anywhere between 150 and 155, I feel I look my best.

My body does not seem to want to go below that number.

I'm 5'9" and I look best around 165-170 (that's around 18% body fat for me). I got down to 155 and started looking like a skeleton, so I gained muscle.

I'm 5'9" also. I honestly have no idea what my goal should be because I haven't ever been a healthy weight in my adult life. I tell myself I'd like to get to 150, but who knows? Like others have said, I guess I'll just stop when I'm happy and comfortable with my body.

I'm 5'9" with an initial goal of 155, might go down to 150 but I liked how I looked around 170 so just depends.

Wow. Never see that first doctor again!!

I agree, and I am doing the same thing. I use the scale, measurements, and bf% to get an idea of where I am and where I want to go. Once I reach a certain weight, I am going to start a bulking cycle followed by another cutting cycle.
