Menopause

Hi Everyone, I am in my early 40's and have always exercised and eaten fairly well. Now menopause has hit me I find myself putting on more and more weight, especially around the tummy area, does anyone have any pointers, also getting married in February so really need to be rid of the belly

Are you on medication or just have an increased appetite?

Check the side effects of the medication to see if it masks or hinders weight loss by causing water retention and/or increased appetite. If so then consult a qualified dietitian to help you create a weight loss plan that works with your medication. If the medication isn't the problem then eating at a calorie deficiency through calorie restriction and exercise will burn away the fat. This takes time and you will just need to have patience at this point.
  • Good idea, they do have a nutritionist at my gym. Was just feeling frustrated, if anything I am eating less, exercising more. Never stops for us woman does it.

I understand exactly what you are saying. If you are having hot flashes or night sweats, a lower carb diet with minimal simple carbs may help.
