Prenatal's

So, people around me think it odd that I take a prenatal daily now... I feel much better than i did and it surprisingly seems to have regulated my cycle.
I'm not pregnant, and I'm not trying right now but I hope to someday in the future--My fiance doesn't see an issue with this and the doctor said it was fine so, why do I seem to get so many of those looks... 'thats dangerous to take' and 'you know you shouldn't be taking that much before you're pregnant' seem to be the norms.
What do you guys think??
Also, does anyone else get this sort of reaction with anything else??? Why do people act like they know what's best for your body when they aren't a medical professional by any means???
This is just bugging me is all.

There's no reason you can't take it. Its essentially a multivitamin. And, its recommended to take long prior to trying to conceive as it helps get your vitamin/ mineral stores up.
ETA I also take prenatal with out intentions of pregnancy.0 -
I suggest you stop telling people your business. If you trust your doctor and he/she doesn't have an issue with it then neither should anyone else.0

If you have a decent diet, then you gain nothing from multivitamins but a hole in your wallet.
But if you like the placebo effect it gives you and think that's worth your money, by all means continue.0 -
My doctor told me to take prenatals even if I'm not planning on becoming pregnant. She said it is important to have enough folic acid in your body to prevent neural tube defects in case you accidentally get pregnant. Also the extra iron helps.0

BTW I keep the bottle in my purse so its not like i'm just telling people0

I'm guessing from your name you're a guy??? if not then I suggest you look into what women actually need to have in their bodies when they ARE pregnant or trying to conceive. I'm a little surprised at how rude some of the people replying are. I guess I ask for it by asking opinions but I think it rather comical when males answer this.0 -
I was told or read (who knows which I'm old and forgetful) that you shouldn't take them unless your pregnant or planning to get pregnant. But if your Doc is okay with it and your feeling better then go for it. I may have to look into it myself.0

Doctor's often recommend women take a prenatal vitamin- pregnant or not! If it helps regulate your menstrual cycle, continue taking it! Who cares whether people find it strange. I find them strange for caring so much about you taking a prenatal0

No, actually, it wasn't.
If you don't want people's opinions, don't give them platforms to voice them. Like with the vitamins. And this thread.0 -
I have kept taking mine after pregnancy because regular multivitamins always tore my stomach up, even with food. Plus I can get a bottle of prenatals for less than $3 versus the $10+ I was paying for the multivitamins. Sometimes it's best just to ignore people, and just do your own thing!0

I'm currently taking prenatals and I have no intention of becoming pregnant for another year or longer. I've heard from a couple docs that it's fine. I still try to eat a balanced diet but there are days I know I'm not getting it all. I've had people comment on it before and I mainly just say the benefits are great (hair, skin and nails). And if I do end up conceiving accidentally my body will be prepared.0
