Pretty upset!

I started with mfp on the 23rd June and in 6 weeks lost 15lbs - slow but steady and I didn't give up any of my favourite foods. We were away on holiday last week and although I had 2 bad days I walked 2 hrs a day (something i never do at home) and I really thought I would have lost but I put on 5lbs!! Admittedly I was poor with drinking enough water and I couldn't log in as I had no internet although I did upload it all when I got back but it says I'm not on a day 3 streak - how do I recifiy this??
I am back on it again today drinking loads but I cried when I got on those scales. I have so much to loose and to put 5 of the 15lbs I had lost back on was a really kick in the teeth!

It's water retention. TOM? or just plain too much sodium makes you retain water. Happens to me all the time (yes I freaked the first time).
Think of it this way, you would have had to eat 3500 x 5 =17500 calories to gain 5 pounds.

You can be upset but where will that get you? Vacations are just that, vacations. You are home, you are aware and that's important. Just get back to your routines right now. Make your plan and stick to it.

When I go on vacation I am out of my routines, one of which is water. I don't drink enough water, drink too much alcohol ( wine in the evening). It's just 1 or 2 glasses a night but it adds up. Then there is the salt.

5 x 3500 ( calories in one pound) is 17,500 calories. I doubt you ate that much. You are probably holding water. Take a few days and be really conscious of your water intake. You will be fine!

The logging thing I am not sure about.

Good for you for coming back!

Its just water weight, probably from consuming additional sodium. Give it a week, eat at your deficit, and drink plenty of water! You'll be back to normal. Happens to me quite often. There's no way you gained 5lbs of fat in 2 days

Right there is your answer, likely increased sodium = water retention.
Increased activity level = water retention.
You'll be ok, you'll come to see how normal that kind of this is as your jorney preogresses.
Keep up the good work :flowerforyou:

I know how you feel. You are upset at the gain. Take all that emotion and turn it around. Drink your water, do some activity and it will disappear. You are back on mfp among people who care. Hang in there.

I had some issues in July, and in two weeks put on 10 lbs of scale weight. I straightened myself back out. In the first 24 hours, the scale went down 5 lbs. Within 48 hours, I was down a total of 8 lbs. Within a week, the 10 lbs were gone. It really is possible to carry that much water weight. Just get back at it.
