Hello, I am Melissa 30 years old and have been fighting this battle all my adult life. I have tried many diets but have a hard time with willpower. Starting to count calories and watch carbs and see how it goes. Need to lose a significant amount of weight due to high blood pressure. I am currently 5'5 260 lbs. Just had a baby 7 months ago and this is the heaviest I have ever been.
I welcome any advice and support!

My advice is to treat this NOT like a diet, but like the way you will eat for the rest of your life. Start by logging your food honestly and as accurately as you can. Try to make smarter choices and stick within your daily allotment of calories. You can still have cookies and ice cream (unless those trigger binge eating for you), just make smarter choices MOST of the time.
The other day, I ate 500 calories over my daily allotment, so yesterday I made sure to eat lots of yummy fresh veggies and grilled chicken. Its not the end of the world if you go over calories sometimes - as long as most of hte time you're close to it. You CAN do this. :flowerforyou:
My other piece of advice is to set smaller loss-goals for yourself. If you're starting at 270, maybe you first loss goal sould be 10 lbs, or 20 lbs, or whatever works for you. This helped me, since I got that thrill of meeting my goal, and I didn't have to wait until I was finally at my ultimate goal weight to feel accomplished. And honestly, I think that I would have stopped before I hit my goal if I hadn't broken it into chunks. 60 lbs seemed like an awful lot of weight to lose, but 20 pounds wasn't so bad, right?
And the last piece of advice - weight loss isn't linear. Don't expect the scale to actually move the same amount each week. The scale is going to jump around. Sometimes you'll lose a lot in a sort of 'whoosh', and then the next week you won't lose anything - or you may even gain a pound or two. This is absolutely normal during weight loss - don't let it discourage you.

I just read your post. It was great, thanks for telling it as it is. You are right this is a life style change. I just "re-joined" again today. I HAVE to do something, just keep getting heavier and heavier and lazier and lazier. I realized it yesterday when I had something happen. No more excuses0
