Diet Plan Advice

I am 28, 5'9 136 lbs. I workout at least 30mins-1hour 6 days a week. I still have some stubborn belly fat that I want to get rid of so I want to start a diet plan to help me reach my goals. I'm not a veggie lover and I currently don't take any supplements or vitamins. Do you have any suggestions on what I should be eating and what time I should be eating them? I considered looking into a high protein diet, but I'm not sure which would be most efficient for my goals.

Log, and WEIGH your foods.... eat at a caloric deficit to lose weight.

It doesn't matter if you eat poptarts, cookies, McDonalds, broccoli, carrots, etc.

A deficit is all that matters for weight loss.
  • I currently eat alot of Tuna, Chicken Breast, Sandwiches, and alot of fruit (watermelon, oranges, grapes, kiwi). I'm not a veggie lover :( I currently only eat Corn, Spinach, and Lettuce. I have a sweet tooth, but I've cut back in the past month on the sweets that I consume. I've been eating a 120 calorie granola bar as my treat for the day.

So, it sounds like you are managing pretty well.

Here's an example of one of my days.

    Breakfast:
Greek yogurt (plain, 0%) and fruit with a little bit of stevia sweetener

    Snack
    Hard boiled eggs

    Lunch
Spinach salad with grilled chicken and balsamic vinaigrette

    Dinner
Tilapia (probably 2 servings) baked in tinfoil pouch with tomatoes, lemon, basil and butter
    Sweet potato with butter

Some kind of dessert that fits my macros.

There are a TON of vegetable out there to try. If you are open minded and look for variety, you won't get bored. Also, learn how to cook them so they are tasty (roasting, grilling).
  • Thank you for your suggestion. I'm going to try to log my calories, but it's hard because I'm a nibbler. Example I'll eat Tuna with wheat thins but I'll only eat 1 spoon of tuna and 2 wheat thins. Then maybe an hour I'll do the same. And that's how I eat through out the day especially when I'm at work. I think I need a real eating schedule. But honestly I have no clue. I've always been lean most of my life and most would say I'm pretty lean currently, but I'm not happy with my body. I'm willing to put in the work and make the changes, I just don't know what changes need to be made

Even if you eat a bite at a time, you should be able to log the total. Also, if you are lean but you still aren't happy with your body, it probably has to do with toning. Start a weight lifting program.
  • I'm excited I'm going to try your plan tomorrow, minus the yogurt. I will need to find a replacement because I don't eat yogurt. Thank you so much. Do you have other foods throughout the week or you stick with the same routine daily?

Just eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and have snacks you enjoy in between.

If you eat "clean healthy" foods.... you'll be able to eat a lot more due to less calories. Like a salad for example.

Or if you prefer Starbucks.... like I do.... go enjoy an iced coffee and a cookie.

BUT.... TRY to come close to your macro goals and stay within your calorie range and you will lose weight.

I stick with the same breakfast and lunch for the most part because it's easy (I brown bag to work)
    Apples
    Melon
    Peanut butter
    Cheese chunks
A whole lot of vegetables because I love veggies (kale, cabbage, squash, spaghetti squash, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, corn, eggplant are on the rotation now).
    Shrimp (I buy frozen)
    Any fish
    Pork tenderloin
    Flank steak
    Chicken
    Ground Turkey
    Quinoa
