Post surgery high fiber?

Options
Can anyone advise the best high fiber foods for a post op patient?
Brocolli, Brussels sprouts and grapefruit isn't good enough so far.
Can I get suggestions? Thank you.

I've had a powder formula they sent me home with. Not a success.
Maybe oats with applesauce. Thank you for the suggestions. :)

    Prunes, rhubarb, beans

(UK-based but assume that prunes and rhubarb are available tinned in natural juice?)

Worked for me post-op after v invasive surgery but took a few days. Moving helped - I couldn't move much but gentle walking seemed to help encourage my digestive system into action.

    Are you having trouble pooping?

After my surgery no food helped get things moving. The only thing that really helped was Senna tablets.

Strawberries, raspberries, pears, avocados and bananas are all really high in fiber. An avocado has 14 gs! Also switch to rye bread.

I try to get 25 g of fiber per day, and if I'm under for whatever reason, I'll snack on a Fiber One bar. They have 9 g of fiber, and are only 140 calories.

You're looking for insoluble fiber right?

Sources of insoluble fiber: whole wheat, whole grains, wheat bran, corn bran, seeds, nuts, barley, couscous, brown rice, bulgur, zucchini, celery, broccoli, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green beans, dark leafy vegetables, raisins, grapes, fruit, and root vegetable skins.

I second walking....and make sure you're eating enough fat.

1 tablespoon psyllium whole husks in a large glass of warm water followed by another large glass of water (not necessarily warm).
Also prune juice ten minutes beforehand!
    Works fabulously!

Thanks. I'm gettya lot of ambulatory in as I can tolerate.
I'll try a few of these too.

    Fiber one cereals
    Oats
High fiber breads (these are going to be light breads like the 45 cal per slice one or if say low-carb)

Also, magnesium helps with constipation. Prune juice is best heated if you try that.
