Unfortunately I don't have the money for a gym membership at the moment and so I was looking for some tips on making a home gym using common house hold items, can any one help?

Run outside! Walking and running are ideal ways to lose weight and be healthy when combined with a healthy diet. Walking and running are easily trackable for logging on here as your cell phone will likely have free apps available to track your distance and speed etc.
When you can't get outside due to weather, then think about picking up a skipping rope and using that in your house. They're cheap and effective. You can also use the internet to find many suggestions for body weight only exercises to do for toning and strengthening. Body weight is really the best weight to lift anyway, and it costs you nothing.0 -
Check out YouTube for home workout ideas. Jump ropes are a few dollars. There are also exercises you could do using your body weight.0

If you know someone that's handy doing DIY stuff you can make homemade gym equipment, quite a few links online regarding that topic. Home Depot can be a great source for your workout needs with a little imagination.
Don't forget that bodyweight calisthenics doesn't require much equipment if any, depending on whether you do pullups or not.0
