Pushup Help

I can do 14 push ups. However I am stuck there for several days. Just unable to do the 15th.

Has anyone faced such a plateau? If so, what should be done?

Thanx

This helped me-once I am fatigued, I drop to my knees and keep going. Great job!

I have two suggestions, which are complete opposites of each other but either may work:

Grease the groove. Throughout the day, do mini sets whenever you can. Shoot for 8-12 sets throughout the day. If you can already do 15 pushups, try sets of 10 to start. Repeat for 10 days or so. Take a rest day. Then see how many you can do at once.

    OR

If you're already doing them frequently, give yourself more rest days. I was stuck at 3 sets of 7 for a ridiculously long time when I did them every other day. I dropped to twice a week and almost immediately went to 2 sets of 15.

I would make sure you are doing the push ups with good form. Check out the link below. If you are doing them with good form, then you can follow these suggestions. You can also modify the push up until you get stronger. So, if you are doing the push ups with your feet elevated then reduce the elevation and continue working until you cannot do anymore. If you are doing them on your knees, then bring your knees in. Or you can come off your knees and do them on a chair. There are also a lot of different ways you can do push ups. I have pasted a link below with a book about push ups.

I promised you all that I would document my experiences so that it may help others.

I took 4 days rest and then did push-ups. No change - I could do only 14.

    I'll try something else now
