Protein is always high, do I adjust?

Hi!
MFP broke down my nutrition as such:
Fat 50 g
Carbs 189 g
Protein 76 g
I always seem to be over on protein and I don't even feel like I eat THAT much. As far as exercise go, I weight lift with a trainer. Semi-heavy, working with bar bells, etc. I am very focused on toning and getting some great muscles right now. Should I adjust my macros on my own? I weigh 148 and lift 4 times a week. How much protein should I consume?
Also I'm eating 1200 calories a day. If anyone has any insight/experiences on that as far as getting to my goal weight of 140, I'd like to hear. Thanks!

148 to 140, you can do that in a month realistically. Are you sure your intake is 1200, that is quite low. Might want to look into that.0

I mean...that's what I'm doing. I usually go over on Saturday because I'll drink a couple beers or on a day I'm resting from the gym.
I'm more concerned about this protein thing at the very moment. I'm considering raising the calories just because people on here are being vicious to the 1200/day people. I'm also trying to listen to my body. I'm not sure what it's saying yet.0 -
Look at it this way, if 76 grams of protein is your intake then that means you have 76 pounds of lean body mass to preserve and the rest is body fat.. Is that the case?0

I've lost all my weight successfully from eating 1700-1800 calories. I wouldn't suggest 1200 calories personally. My protein accounts for 30% of my 1700 calories, which is 150g.
If you're trying to gain muscle you're going to need to be eating way more than 1200 calories and a lot more protein.

There's a protein intake section on that list. Those are all very useful articles and will help with all your questions.0 -
Thanks! Still trying to figure out my goals/etc. I will check this out!0
