1 week on IF = 3 pounds lost w/o diet and exercise

First time here and I wanted to start my continued weight-loss "journey" with how I got from a couch sloth or actually doing something about my weight. See, i used to have a problem where I would overeat less than an hour before going to bed. That small habit alone, not even counting how I was such a lazy person, got me gaining weight quicker then I thought. I decided things had to change only when I saw my body infested by stretch marks and fat that I realized that I had to do something about it.
4 months later, after I threw 300$+ on books and a 6-month gym membership, there was quite literally no difference. I was still the fat and lazy guy when I started.
I thought I was screwed not even being able to embark on the weight-loss journey that so many have tried (and most failed) to complete. Fast-forward to last week, I'm watching the case of Dr. Oz promoting pills and things like those that "promise" to "bust your body fat for goo" in his own words on Last Week Tonight. A quick search of some of the products he mentioned, I got linked to a book on Amazon of one of the products he mentioned. A few clicks later and I was on the page of a book called The Weight Loss Miracle by Avery Wilson. Being just 13 pages I thought it was just a general knowledge book, giving false hope as most of the books I bought. Seeing that this was just under a dollar (1 cent under to be precise) I tried my luck, seeing that my past endeavors with 30$+ books got me nowhere. I was frikin surprised at first when Avery begins the book by stating that only diet and exercise can lead to a healthy life. No ****!
I bought that book because I can't do the two. Years of eating horribly and sitting down isn't going to change directly by reading an eBook. As I continued the book though, I realized what he meant by it. The path to leading a healthy life, aka being fit, is only through diet and exercise. But knowing from experience that fat people can't just up and go to the gym, he shows the technique he used to get himself into the state of being able to start the journey of fat to fit. The technique being intermittent fasting.
Frankly, I didn't think anything was going to happen. After a week of implementing it, going a 110% of what was supposed of me by the book, things actually changed. Other than dropping 3 pounds while still having my daily lazy days of watching series and programming, I feel kinda better about myself. In the weird, fat way of course. But still, seeing how change happened with barely any work on my side. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Whatever, it's amazing in my view. Today, being the one week anniversary, is the start of a new me. The beginning of a fitter, lighter me.
See you guys next week.

Grats on making some changes, don't see why you needed to spend $300 on books though when you knew the problem and the solution0 -
Congrats on your loss. How many hours did you fast for? How many days a week did you do IF?0

Congrats on progress!
IF has been working for me as well. I fast from 2pm-7am. It keeps my binging far far away which is what I prefer as it was starting to stall my weight loss again.0 -
I just got the book. I'm planning on the 5 days maintenance / 2 days at 500. We'll see how it goes.
There are IF groups here on MFP....check those out.....http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/8005-5-2-fasting0 -
