More fiber and more lean protein, and make sure you eat plenty of green veggies.

I enjoy a piece of string cheese. It seems to satisfy the immediate craving.

Sounds lame, but gum really works for me. A long lasting flavor one.

this does the trick for me. Or something crunchy...celery or baby carrots...minimal calories and the crunch takes away the cravings

Avoid eating carbs and sugar, it will reduce cravings for those types of food. Eat foods high in fiber, they take longer to pass thru. Make sure you get addequate protein, it keeps you fuller longer than carbs. Also, water has been shown to simply drain thru your system so it is not at all an effective means keeping hunger away. If you are truly hungry (not just bored or looking to taste something) then eat. If it is not time for a meal grab some Ry krisps and cheese or some yogurt w/ a bit of granola. Protein snack bars are yummy but high in sugar as are shakes, but do whatever works for you. Also it might be interesting to really analyze your food to see if you notice any patterns. I myself notice that whenever I eat bread or pasta I get absolutely ravanous. Just a thought. Hope you find something that works!

If I knew of one that really worked without keeping me wired and awake I would tell you. The best things that help my appetite are the following:
1: Stride sugar free at my desk, in my night stand, in the kitchen and in my car.
2: Eating protein at each meal.
3: Sugar free popsicles (even during the winter)
4: Cinnamon capsules to curb sugar cravings.

I agree with BobbyDaniel... fiber and protein. Beans are super filling (fiber-licious) and generally low calorie.

Protein, coffee, and slow digesting carbs...

A homemade protein shake is great and filling (you can use ice/water for a lower cal option).
Egg whites! There's all kinds of things that you can do with this.
Oats -- in the morning with cinnamon

A good mix works as well... Some recent favs.
    1. Tuna Melt (Tuna, Egg Whites, Oats, and spices -- it's awesome)
    2. Oat Protein Pancakes
    3. Pumpkin seeds -- I love to snack on these
    4. low fat cheese sticks
    6. Protein cookies -- very easy to make on your own @ home
    7. Plenty of water!

    Good luck

I notice I get very hungry if I do not have enough carbs, grains in particular. It takes about 2 servings a day for me to feel full.

If I eat higher protein (30%+) I need to eat 33-35% fat to feel satiety

My tricks: I drink a cup of lemon ginger tea. And I have papaya enzymes. If none of that works I head for the nuts, a spoon of PB or a small piece of chocolate.

peppermint tea! I read somewhere that peppermint tea helps curb cravings for sweets. When I feel "out of control" hungry, I'll drink that. it's sweet enough that it does satisfy your sweet tooth.

Eat something every three hours (keeping within your calorie allocation)
    Eat protein and fibre.
Reduce sugar in all forms, processed and natural, as much as you can.
