Anyone ever do this? Maybe it's bad for me, I don't know. But I've posted my weight up in my cubicle at work. I see it a lot, sitting there and it's helping. Maybe I'm shaming myself, but I feel like I need this as a reminder. Motivation is hard for me, so I'm looking for out of the box ideas to keep me going. I don't feel bad about my weight. I'm just aware that it needs to change.
Every Friday, I weigh myself and print a document with my current weight and some cool picture for fun. Last week it was Bruce Lee vs Batman.
I'm also using a dry erase marker to write my weight on the fridge.

if it works for you, use it.0

I wrote mine on a big wall calendar. It helped me track my weight before I started using mfp. It also made me accountable. More than anything, it helped me learn it was just a number and doesn't define who I am.0

That's what I'm finding. I don't care what I weigh, so long as I'm doing better and trying to do what's right.0 -
I think I am going to do this. It shocks my boyfriend though. He doesn't think I look even close to what I weigh so when he sees the number he gets a bit uneasy. He's still locked into the idea that women don't weigh over 120lbs. I asked him how much he thought I weighed and it was 30lbs less than I really am. I'm flattered but he needs a reality check. Women can look amazing and weigh 150lbs, especially if they are fit and tone.0

That is a great idea.
I found that being "out" with my weight, and letting everybody know what I currently weighed, really has helped me in my loss.
In the past, when I would privately keep the number to myself, it was easy to backslide--since nobody else would know.
I love the various badass photos to go along with the number, too.

That's why I love my hubby...he thought 180lbs was a walrus, not his beautiful wife!0 -

Positive thoughts!!! I think it's a great idea, and if it's working...no need to question yourself. Maybe I ought to give it a try!0 -
Great Idea...I'm going to try that0

I'm not much for sharing so publicly, and I don't need it for motivation, but I'm not bothered about sharing my weight or loss if people ask, and my boss spotted my weight loss spreadsheet on my PC the other day and I can't say I was bothered - it gets pretty obvious when you've dropped 30% of your body weight! Honestly, good for you for being so creative!0

Funny you say this, I recently also showed my BF how much I weigh and he was shocked. Like you, my BF thought i weight much less, and was almost speechless when he saw it! Not in a good way i don't think...haha. But the reason I got to that point was that I gained almost 70-80 pounds in past 2-3 years. He met me when i weighed much less about 150, and has been with me even at my peek of 236. Its something we have argued countless hours about, and i can't blame him being that I have changed so much not just physically (stretch marks, not being sexually attracted as much) but also mentally (confidence, socializing, thinking everyones disgusted w me) So about 2 months ago we almost broke up for this reason and others. But we came to a resolution, where he would try to change his ways that I was not happy with, if i lost 10 pounds in a month. I was to take a pic of the scale on day 1, and after 1 month a pic of the last. A lot of ppl prob think this was the wrong way to go about it, but in the end it worked for us. It was the motivation i needed (knowing i would have to show him the pics no matter what) to do it. At the end of the month, I ended up losing 11 pounds! But he had never ever seen my weight, and therefore was surprised to see the higher number AND the lower number! After his shock went away i guess he realized that I was taking the right steps to a better me, the old me. I have an other 10 pounds to loose this month, and now that he knows the numbers there really has been no escaping the truth. Its the most progress I have made since gaining the weight, and honestly i know many ppl would criticize, but hey, it worked for us, and its continuing to do so. SO i wish the best of luck to you! and your bf mentality!0

Height makes a big difference. Seems like every time a nurse weighs me, I politely bump the 50-pound-increment-thingy from 150 lbs to 200 lbs, then let them find the rest of my weight. The last time a male nurse weighed me, I completely took over. He thanked me. :laugh:0 -
Every time someone ask my weight for whatever reason, they are always in shock, even today i was eating almonds, and a coworked ask me why i wasnt eating a chilly covered nacho mountain, i told him i was watching my diet, and that i have lost about 20 pounds already, and that my weight was 300lb, i got this look like i was a pig... Maybe i am, but i rather keep it private.0

No one at work has ever asked and I'm thankful because I'm ashamed of how much I weigh.
My friend has been helping me keep tabs better and checks on me everyday. She asked me how much I weigh and it was time to come clean about my starting weight,
I'm close to breaking the 300 pound barrier. I'm walking better and some of the pain I was experiancing over the winter is gone.0 -
This reminds me of when my boys use to wrestle. At wrestling tournaments, the wrestlers would all be walking around with their weight written on their bare arm in sharpie. I thought this was so strange and wondered what society would be like if we all had to run around with our weight written on our body for the whole world to see.0

It's definitely not for everyone. But I kinda get a rush out of people looking at it and saying "good job."0

I would but then my co worker would get jealous although I try to help her. It is hard when things are different since she is almost twice my age.0
