Workout Routine?

Hey, new member here. I'm a 20 year old female hoping to shed a bit of weight and tone up, especially around my lower body. I weigh 63 kgs and am 5 ft 3 inches tall. My lifestyle is such that I don't have much time to workout or go to the gym, I spend most of my day in lectures or in the library, sitting on a chair and working. So it's quite sedentary.
Ideally, I would like to shed a few inches off my waist (muffin top especially) and quite a few inches off my thighs and bum. And look a little more toned than what I look like now. Now, I'm not the healthiest person but I am willing to eat as healthily as I can and giving up on all the unhealthy food. I have already started cutting down and eating the right proportions, as well as making conscious healthy choices when selecting what to eat and what not to eat. When it comes to working out though, I'm terrible! Firstly, I can't afford to join the gym, both monetarily and time wise....my schedule is pretty tight and I can only spend about 45 mins a day working out. Now, coming to the actual workouts, I get bored too quickly and find it really hard to stick to the 30 day shred work outs and such stuff....but after a lot of experimenting, I finally found something that I actually enjoy- ZUMBA! That's something I don't get bored by easily and actually look forward to doing every evening. I was doing 30 mins of zumba every night regularly for 2 months but had to stop because of exams+a broken toe. I don't go to a zumba class but follow this online routine by Linda Edler- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu_r4_YmLWM
What I would like to know are the following:-
1) Is doing zumba for 30 mins every evening along with 15 mins of squats+lunges in the morning a good/sensible workout routine?
2) The zumba class I mentioned above (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu_r4_YmLWM)- is that any good? I have heard that not all zumba workouts are done the right way so would like it if someone could tell me if this workout is a good one.
3) Assuming that this 30 mins of zumba + 15 mins of squats&lunges workout routine is okay, would doing that and watching what I eat help me lose weight or am I doing it completely wrong?
Any more suggestions by anyone? Quite frankly, I'm quite new to this fitness thing so chances are high that I may be completely off here so any help will be appreciated!

Hi, So I have two left feet and can't do Zumba to save my life. I'm told its fantastic but I have a hard time going in the right directions.
30 Minutes of Zumba- as long as you're going gusto with it, and the squats/Lunges should be good.
If you live on campus check to see if your school offers Zumba in the gym. They might even offer it for free. If thats the case- take advantage of that! Pencil it into your schedule, bring gym bag to class with you and make it happen.
I know I do better with classes in the actual glass vs following along on youtube.0 -
I do Linda's beginner videos. I really like them, although I am still figuring out some of the moves.
Here's a playlist I started with a few workouts, and then after that are some how-to videos for getting the movement right. I'm still working my way through those, but the instructors seem to know what they are doing. https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PL0YdnF2VHk5jwEVJKcv-wfCFaSRrHohjG0 -
Try getting workout dvds( zumba, kickbox, step), and maybe try jumping rope and walking as much as possible for riding a bike everywhere.0

Bambogli- Love the name by the way! It reminds me of mogli from the jungle book! I have NO good advice for you -- I am stringing together my own weight loss with a lot of internet reading and support from people here. But I do want to say CONGRATS! On finding something that works for you and for doing it consistently! Super dooper good job for watching your eating... the basics are taken care of so see how it works and seek out professional help if it doesn't work... but by all means keep on seeking help here - read old posts and reach out to new people to be friends with -- living by example is far better to follow than ideas from the greatest minds... if you know what I mean. There is one thing I have found particularly helpful on this website - someone posted this website - check it out - it will help with your eating! http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/0

my job too involves a lot of long hours, sitting around not moving a whole lot. I recently got DDP Yoga which i've added to my list of options and have been following some youtube videos (search for HASfit (Heart and Soul Fitness i think it stands for))
I'll admit i don't follow anything to a specific schedule/plan but they are great for someone at any experience level and do definitely give you a workout especially for someone who doesn't move a whole lot during the day as it is.0 -
Thank you everyone for the great advice and encouraging words, really appreciate it! Hopefully I'll be able to stick to my plan and feel healthier. Thanks again!
@Marywalsh3718- haha, thank you! Yes, Mogli is the inspiration behind the name!0
