Help...what to do with fresh peaches?

My neighbor mentioned she was getting peaches off her tree. So I said yumm bring me some. Last night she brought up 2 big grocery bags full. To me they seem too firm, have a few ants crawling in them, and some worm hole spots? I hate to waste them though. Anyone know what to do with them?
I put them back outside last night due to the ants.

    If you have the ability and the inclination, you can can them.
    Eat them fresh when they're ripe.
    Peach pie.
    Peach compote for pancakes/french test.
    Chutney for meats.
    Blanch/peal them, slice them and freeze them for smoothies later.

    Tons of recipes on pinterest... I love peach jam , peach salsa.... Really good in a smoothie. Slice up and put cottage cheese on top for breakfast..... You are one lucky girl.. Enjoy

    Eat them, silly!

    Then again, I don't mind worm holes. Worst case scenario, cut the icky bits off and *then* eat them! I love peaches all by themselves:-)

    Lucky, lucky, lucky you!

    This year I have bought about 110 pounds of peaches and I now have about 80 pounds of them diced and frozen in the freezer. We use them year round. How? peach ice milk (like ice cream but we use milk instead of cream for lower calories), as an addition to oatmeal all winter, peach cobblers, peach and peanut butter sandwiches, peaches and chicken in the crock pot, etc. We also use peaches as a substitute for half o f the sugar in recipes. They freeze well and fresh frozen are excellent.

    Cut a few open, many peaches do not get soft and are ripe when hard. So if they taste ripe, they are, even if they are rock hard, cut off the bad spots, peel, dice and freeze!

    Thanks will try to see what I can do with them. My husband cut one and said it was rotten. Currently at home with a sick child, and a teenager whose birthday's this weekend so very busy.

  • Good, fresh peaches are not that expensive, so maybe these aren't keepers. It's not the ants that bother me it the ants plus the worm holes. Fresh peaches that are hard will ripen in your kitchen in 1-3 days. You do not need to put in direct sunlight. Sometimes you can put them in a brown paper bag and this will accelerate the process. However, if I want to salvage fruit with holes, I cut them open to see what might be in there - and with peaches once you do that, it's eat or toss.
    I suggest you toss these and pick up some good ones at the local grocery.

    You could totally like, eat them.

    You could totally like, put them in a blender with some water and drink em.

    Personally though, I'd eat them in creative manners like, raw, grilled, in a pie, in a tart, in a salad, or even as a turkish delight.

    Ants and worms are not the end of the world. It just means you need to wash and check them.

    If you don't want to eat them fresh, make
    Peach jam
    peach relish
    peach preserves
    peach pie
    peach cobbler
    peach smoothie
    fruit salad
    and if you mango, things with peaches and mangoes.

    Cut them up and put them in yogurt, with or without granola, atop frozen yogurt too....peach crisp is amazing (same recipe as apple crisp but with peaches!) They are awesome in smoothies with yogurt or almond milk, alone or mix with strawberries/raspberries etc. Worse comes to worse, once you peel n chop to get rid of worms (if any).... freeze them! Lay the chunks on waxed paper on a cookie sheet then freeze...once frozen....throw in a zip lock bag. Throw the frozen peach chunks in a smoothie anytime....frozen fruit makes it like a cold treat (it's the only way I drink smoothies!!)

    If you decide they are keepers...blanche them quickly in boiling water and ice water and the kin should come off...dice and freeze for later.

    Also cut them in half and grill on both sides...serve with ice cream or greek yogurt (and salted caramel sauce if you wants to get fancy).

    Are those wormholes actually wormholes, or are they just brown spots? A lot of people are only familiar with produce from large supermarkets, and they think that produce isn't "supposed" to have marks like that, but it's perfectly natural. There may be nothing wrong with them. Your husband said one was bad, but that doesn't mean they all are. You'll have to look at them to determine that, and really- the sooner the better. You're looking at a window of a few days for them to get bad, even if they were fine to begin with, especially since there are bugs in the bag (which is also perfectly natural!).

    20-25 peaches, cut up
    4 lbs. seedless raisins
    2 pkgs. distiller's yeast
    10 lbs. sugar
    3 gal. boiling water
    3 lemons, ground with skins

    Preparation :
    Put everything in crock (I am using a brewers bucket) except raisins and yeast. When lukewarm
    crumble yeast over top. Stir every morning and night for seven days
    then add raisins and let stand 3 weeks without stirring.
