ALWAYS feeling hungry..

After eating, unless I eat a fairly large meal, I ALWAYS feel hungry afterwards! I need to eat enough for two people most of the time to feel full! Everyone always tells me "Oh, you're just thirsty!" and years ago that's what I thought too, but after drinking TONS of water after eating the feeling of being hungry doesn't go away unless I eat more. This is leading me to constantly snack. I also started to eat only one or two large meals a day because it was the only way I could go throughout the day without feeling like I needed to eat something.. But I'm tired of feeling so full that sometimes I get sick, I'm also tired of feeling like I'm never full. Does anyone have any suggestions? The only time I felt good, neither hungry nor full was when I was doing Keto. I was losing weight slowly but surely, but while my mind felt amazing, my body was constantly tired and even short walks would put me slightly out of breath when the same walk wouldn't do that off keto. Does anyone have any ideas? I also live with my grandmother and it's always so hard to buy stuff and keep it in the fridge because it either gets lost in the back of the fridge behind all the rotting and expired food my grandma keeps, or I haven't had a chance to make it to the store because I don't have a car or I don't have any money to buy groceries so there ends up being nothing in the house but processed foods like instant ramen, which does nothing to my hungry and I end up eating two cups.. I need some real help. I just don't know what to do.. Up until last year I was overweight but luckily I wasn't gaining any drastically, but this year I've gained almost twenty pounds because the only food in the house is the processed food my grandmother insists on getting from the local food banks. She gets so much of it and I hate the stuff she gets, I think it tastes awful and I'm always dying for fresh foods, but that's all there is to eat.. I need help.. I don't know what to do..

That processed stuff all day long sounds awful.
Get some beans or tuna and some frozen vegetables and prepare some food that satisfies you.0 -
talk to your doctor... I've heard of something like this and it turns out its actually a medical condition.

Get a job near your home, work and buy your own groceries. If for some reason you can't, then make do with what you have--whatever your grandma gets from the food bank, go for a lot of high protein/high fat foods that will keep you full longer. Also, if you're constantly snacking, why not change 1-2 large meals to 5-6 mini meals? That or exercise more, giving you more calories to eat even more to get fuller. Also, if you're used to overeating, it might take time for your stomach to "shrink" to adjust your new eating habits.
More advice can be given if you give your weight/height and average daily calorie intake.0 -
You have no idea..! I always go to my boyfriends house up in Canada for vacations and it's so amazing to be able to eat real food.. the only problem is that his family is european and so they tend to eat a lot of fatty foods like sausage or schnitzel. Also, as a hispanic, I absolutely love it when my grandmother cooks beans.0

I've been trying to get a job here for a little over half a year.. I've sent in applications like crazy! I do go grocery shopping as often as I can when I have the money for it, but sometimes it gets so hectic that I'm not able to go shopping for almost a month.. recently my grandmother just decided to not go to the grocery store for a month and a half and live only on the food she got from the local food bank. THAT, was probably the worst month and a half of my life.. I've tried breaking up my meals into more smaller meals but it just doesn't work for me AT ALL. I will have the same problem. Always feeling hungry so my "small" meals will turn into many small snacking sessions because I will constantly feel hungry. It's just a no-no for me to eat smaller more frequent meals. I gained a LOT of weight when I tried that.0

Processed foods aren't designed to be healthy, they are designed to be CHEAP! Haha. They aren't filling at all, that is why you never feel full. Carbs are the most un-filling foods you can eat and unfortunately they are the cheapest. My husband and I bought a lot of cheap foods in our first few years of marriage because its all we could afford, we had bread and pasta all day long. I gained 40 lbs because I was never full and always eating. Now, I eat only fruits, vegetables and protein! Protein you can always count on to fill you up. So that is my advice, PROTEIN!!!
I don't know what to tell you about the price tag. Being healthy costs more for me now, but I've replaced that bill with eating out, which is non-existant now. I just figure, its a little more pricey now, but think of all the medical bills I won't be having in the future because of high cholesterol. My health is more important to me than, for example, buying a new TV so I "sacrifice" as people put it. But I don't care, I like my box tv.0 -

I love the way you're thinking. I don't really eat any fast food, don't drink soda, and only have candy/sweets/junk food once in a while.. but because of all the processed and fake food that I'm either forced to eat or starve I feel like all my work to not eat all that extra crap is being thrown away! I'm going to try and see what I can cut out to have extra money for the foods I want. The only problem is actually getting to the grocery store each week. I can only buy a certain amount of food because if I get too much it wont fit in the fridge. My grandmother is a hoarder and it always makes me so mad. There's always rotting food in the fridge because she refuses to throw it out. She'll say that it can still be used, it never does though and just sits in the fridge. If I throw something away, she even goes as far as to take it back out of the trash can! Going to the grocery every week is also hard since I'm a full time student and normally I'm at school most of the day, and when I get home it's either blazing hot outside, or getting dark, and I live in a really sketchy neighbor hood 5 minutes away from the Mexican border.0 -
Just want to say thanks to everyone who came in and commented. I'm going to take all of your suggestions and try to implement them. I recently got some Matcha and Wheat grass powder and plan on making shakes in the morning to drink for breakfast, especially for the days I have classes on campus. I was doing this while in Canada and I consistently felt so much more energetic and wasn't feeling very hungry surprisingly..
