So I made homemade Plantain Chips today and need help with finding the calorie count for the plantains.

The 2 big plantains sliced and baked in the oven made 2 cups of sliced chips...I just used Pam and seasoning so the only calories are the plantains themselves.

I went to some sites and haven't found an accurate number for just 2 cups of homemade baked plantain chips. Thanks guys :)

Found this. You could double it. Don't know if that helps.

I go to this site for a lot of my nutrition lookups. all the nutrients are at the bottom of the page.

I'd use the recipe tool on here. Enter all your ingredients and decide how many servings it'd be - the recipe tool will give you your breakdown :flowerforyou:

BTW, I love plantains too

Look at this as "2 big plantains" instead of "plantain chips". Your cooking method didn't change the calories for them, they just probably dehydrated a little and have less volume. If you use the raw food instead of the cooked version, you'll get the same result. If you eat 1/4 of the chips at once, then count that as 1/2 a plantain.

Hi!! Try creating a recipe here, using the calories for Plantains - Raw as your starting point. Then, when you type in how many servings your recipe creates, it will automatically tell you the number of calories per serving. And you can then add your recipe to the food database so we can all use it. Baked plantains sounds marvelous!!! What spices do you use?
  • It's usually easier to add the calories of everything you put in the dish.

So 2 medium plantains: 437 calories
Pam: no calories (i assume? Check the back of the can)
    Seasonings: no calories

All the chips then would be 437 calories.

    That's 218.5 per cup.

Mmmm now I want to go home and make baked plantain chips!

I did start to use the recipe builder on here but I felt like the raw plantain cal number wasnt right since other sites said different amounts...I know it may not be by much but I am kinda OCD about knowing the exact LOL

Thanks guys! I think about 180 for a cup is good
