I realized that earlier this week I under ate due to excersise and my net on Monday was under 900 net calories consumed. So here is my dilemma, I don't know if I am going to work out, and if I do it is after I get off work at 4pm, by then I have calories left for dinner, but by the time time I burn, I have a bunch earned and it ends up making my net under the 1200 calories. While I do not want to eat all of them back, I know I should not go below...but I prefer not to eat so much at night, just a general weight loss rule I follow. I am thinking a protien shake or something to make up for some of the calories burned, but I don't usually get them and am looking for some suggestions??

Thanks!

Eat more at breakfest and lunch. Then you can get the calories in. If you workout later you may not be hungry.Listen to your body. If your hungry have a light snack filled with protein and complex carbs

If your netting under 900 that is a pretty big snack. Maybe you should make a plan and a back up so, if you think you are going to exercise you eat accordingly. That might make you stick with the execise instead of backing out. The other thing is, I don't know why you would have to eat them in the same day. You should have a light snack after the work out but maybe eat a bigger breakfast and morning snack the next moring if you were under the night before. The other thing you can do is look for high calories dense snacks Like almonds, peanut butter, Nutella, etc with a glass of milk that will help you get those calories in without feeling like you ate a whole other meal.

You definately need something after a workout, you need the protein to help your muscles recover. I have the Lean Shake protein powder from GNC and they taste wonderful. Plus they are higher in fiber than most and only have 180 calories per serving. There is a chocolate, vanilla, cookies n' creme and strawberry. Cookies n' creme is my favorite!

What helps me is scheduling my meals. I know roughly how many calories I will burn working out in the evening, and I try to consume them during the day. Granted, sometimes it is 10pm, and I am hunting for something to hit goal, but, it doesn't happen everyday.

Planning is the key for me.

Try eating some mixed nuts, unsalted of course. High in protein and fills my calories after I work out.

Pure Protein 100% Natural Whey Natural Protein Powder and an 8oz cup of skim milk gives me 220 calories.

Remember, we do burn calories in our sleep! I burn roughly 430 calories during 8 hours of sleep according to the online calculators. I'm 5'2" and about 126lbs.

There is no reason you need to eat them after you workout. Average your weekly calories in/out and you will do fine.
