aviod weight gain on vacation?

so I'm going on an all inclusive 7 day vacation this week and I want to be able to enjoy myself, eat what I want and not worry about gaining weight. I've always been doing weekly calorie counting which averages to 1500cal a day. so I was thinking I still keep track on my vacation and try to eat around 1800cal a day. during the week that i get back, I'll eat around 1200cal a day.

So these 2 weeks should balance each other out and it should be ok, right? instead of averaging on a 7 day bases, I'll do it on 14 days.

Go, have fun, eat on maintenance and don't worry about when you get back until you see where you're at!

I just got back from Jamaica - 7 day all inclusive at Couples Tower Isle. It was amazing! I didn't count my calories. I also didn't go completely crazy and stuff myself. I got home on Sunday and went back to my counting and when I weighed myself today, I was only up 3 pounds! I consider this a huge success! My mind set is that this is a for life change and one week is only a tiny piece of the whole. Have a wonderful time and I wouldn't obsess just be mindful! Add me as a friend if you would like.

Every time I go to Las Vegas, I eat and drink more than I normally do. I also walk *everywhere* all day. I either gain a pound or two, stay the same, or even lose a couple of pounds. Exercise and movement are good for you.

Just go on maintenance during your vacation and, if you can, make time for a relaxing walk, swim, etc. Most importantly: it's vacation - have fun!

    Enjoy yourself.

I travel a lot. What I like to do is eat the local specialties first. Then I eat small portions of healthy foods. If I eat too much - even on vacation - I feel lousy. But I LOVE good food and won't hesitate to eat it. Any time actually, but especially vacation.

In general, the extra walking makes up for the extra eating. And I have been known to run up and down my hotel stairways.

Next week I'm off to Turkey. Curious to see which foods MFP can't find.
