What to do after a binge

So i ate like an angel for 3 months now and lost 2 stone. I am finally where i want to be and for some reason today shark mode got turned on and i ate everything in sight until i felt stuffed and literally couldnt eat anymore. I plan on returning to my normal diet tomorrow. Can someone talk me out of feeling horrible right now? Am i going to gain weight?

Recognize it and move on. Also if they are foods that you were denying yourself then maybe you should not restrict but instead limit and eat in moderation, if that's the case.

    Don't beat ur self up

You'll probably see it on the scale but a lot will be water weight. You've worked so hard over the past three months. This might be an opportunity for you to really practice being kind to yourself (just as you are doing now, reaching out). There are reasons why you did this, if you can break it down a bit you can learn about what makes you vulnerable. Had you eating enough earlier in the day? What kinds of thoughts and feelings were you having?

Log it all, learn, forgive yourself, and keep moving!

It happens to the best of us. Just shake it off and move on.

one meal, one day will never make you or break you. Its the same thing as saying, "all I ate was kale today, does that mean I'm healthy now?" Weight loss is all about habits - don't beat yourself up we all have bad days, or even bad weeks, but its your normal routine that matters most. Focus on one year from now, think one day will end all your hard work? No, get up and get back into it tomorrow.

Congrats on being a human being! :flowerforyou:

What triggered my binge i think was stress from my boyfriend and my cat being sick. Which i know sounds dumb.

Wow thank you ^^; one bad day wont ruin my life, i just have to get back on the horse tomorrow. Its not a diet, its a life style change.

FYI i'm generally eating 1400 calories at the moment and slowly increasing to 1600 maintenance.

It can be difficult to develop a positive, judgement-free relationship with food, but when you do, you won't have to worry about feeling guilty when you eat or even indulge. Part of not feeling "naughty" when you eat is that you also don't feel the need to binge. Meanwhile, don't beat yourself up...you haven't derailed anything, you've only delayed getting to your goal slightly (and probably less than you think). If you consider that a pound of fat is 3500 calories, unless you overate by that much above maintenance, you haven't even impacted your weight by a whole pound.

I've started asking myself, whenever I seem to want to overeat: 1. Am I hungry? 2. Is this something I'll truly enjoy? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, then I go ahead, whether I've hit my calorie goal or not. For #2, I also ask myself if I feel like saving the item until I'm hungry...sometimes the answer is even yes. But often, the answer to #2 is actually no...I just want it because it was offered, or because I'm bored. I know I won't really enjoy it, so it doesn't seem worth blowing my cals for the day. When put in that perspective, it's easier to say no.
