Have 1 month to get toned

Hi all,

I lost quite a bit of weight in MFP and have been maintaining my weight without counting calories since April. Last few months I slacked off the exercise bit as well and so now though I weight the same I feel flabby. I have a big occasion coming up and I have exactly 1 month to look a little better. I usually walk for 60 mins 5 days a week ( to work and back) and now that I have 30 days I have started Ripped in 30. I am on 1200 calories + exercise calories.

FYI, I am 5 feet tall and maintaining at 50-51kgs.

Any tips on what more can I do so speed up the process?

Lift weights at least 3 times a week (if you can lift them for more than 8-10 reps then they're too light) and do HIIT twice a week. This combination will burn fat and build muscle for that toned look! Don't be afraid to lift heavy weights. You will not get bulky!

Another shout for heavy lifting. This will give you the best possible outcome. However, with only one month to go don't expect dramatic results.

It takes much time to acquire that toned look, wish you the best!

It's not going to happen in a month you need to except that. You could however start working on it for a long term goal

This. Body recomposition, whether you are doing a slow recomp or a bulk/cut cycle, is not a fast process.

Strength train and be patient. You won't see much change in one month

Exactly. 1 month isn't a lot of time. You can make progress, and you'll feel better, which will give you more confidence. Lift heavy and maintain a slight calorie deficit.

And go shopping for a fabulous outfit/dress that makes you feel fantastic no matter what your outcome is 4 weeks from now.

No I mean its for a long term thing.. but right now I want to make best of this 1 month and get as good I can look in 1 month.

After that of course I will continue.. with a full time job and 1 part time i really do not have much time.. Also cannot afford a gym at the moment.. I guess lot of limitations.. :embarassed:

You can make time for 1 month, but not for the rest of the time? I guess I don't understand.

You don't have to go to the gym to get results. Look up "You Are Your Own Gym" and/or "Convict Conditioning". You can do bodyweight programs at home. The trick is that they need to be progressively loading to see results (the above mentioned programs are).
Weight loss comes down to calories though. You will get results if you stick to a calorie deficit. You already know that though....your ticker is proof.

My advice still stands though - instead of setting unrealistic expectations on yourself, why not find a fabulous outfit that makes you feel wonderful and then commit to working steadily for a month (and beyond....). Go to your event and have fun.

Only limiting thing I hear here is your last remark :) Youre off to good start: motivation. A lot of good advice given here and certainly ways to work around any limitation. Don't need to spend a lot to get your own personal gym going - start with some dumb bells and some bands.
