I am a runner and i do bike once to twice a week. I currently own a Garmin Forerunner 405 and the Pear Square One. My Garmin seems stingy with the calorie burn count and my Pear is too generous. Looking to get a new HRM. Any suggestions. Also, does anyone use the Polar Loop?

I don't know if it's the best heart rate monitor, but I have a Mio Alpha strapless heart rate monitor. What's great is you wear it like a watch with no chest strap and it sends data to your iPhone.
The actual monitor doesn't have any real bells an whistles (it can only tell you if you are in your zone), but if it's linked to Digifit you have every thing you need: tracking over time, average HR, calories burned, calories per minute burned & tracking of your route and so on.
The bad: expensive with display (http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Strapless-Continuous-Heart-Monitor/dp/B00BJ6HLDI/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1408585819&sr=1-1&keywords=mio+alpha)
Better price without (http://www.amazon.com/Mio-56P-GRY-L-Continuous-Strapless-Heart/dp/B00IVF04LG/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1408585882&sr=1-2&keywords=mio+alpha)
And the data (calories burned) recorded by Digifit will be synced with MFP - no more data entry.0 -
The Forerunner 405 was the last in the Forerunner line to "make up" calorie count, they are terribly inaccurate(unless you have the 405CX version). If you get any of the newer Forerunners they actually use your heart rate to determine calories. If you had the CX version the new watches use an improved version of the formula and you should find it to be more accurate. You can even keep using the same HRM strap if you want.
I haven't used any activity trackers, but would just like to point out that garmin has a similar unit called the vivofit. From what I have seen people seem to like the vivofit a little more. If I were going to get a wrist activity tracker I would get the vivofit, but I just ordered a fitbit zip.0
