What has happen to you lately?

Hi Everyone -

My name is Jennifer - I'm 34 and newly separated from my husband of 7 years married, 13 years together. Since my recent separation (July 2014) I have lost a total of 13.1 lbs. I believe I have begun to truly love who I am without him. I am able to truly focus on me and what my needs are.

What has happen to you lately that has resulted in a great weight loss?

Love yourself everyday!

When I was pregnant with my first son, I had a lot of complications. Now although I am aware that even women who are a healthy weight can have the same problems, being obese was a common factor that put me at a higher risk for all of them. I only made it to 34wks before needing an emergency c-section. For me it was a real eye opener for how bad I had let things get. That was in 2011 and I started working on my weight in 2012 (recovery from csection meant I had to wait for doctors approval).

Last year, about this time, I had made it to around the 90lbs lost mark. I ended up pregnant around that time. This pregnancy went smoothly and up to 41 weeks. All the issues I had with my first pregnancy didn't present themselves this time. I am 12 weeks postpartum today and slowly working my way back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Once I hit that, I'm going to continue on until I'm at the body fat % I want to be.
  • Great for you - keep going strong

I hope you can continue to make the separation a catalyst for positive change for you!

When I started my 134 lb weight loss it was just due to me realizing it was time to make a change because I'd gained a lot more weight than I thought, so it was getting to a level that was dangerous and I didn't want to deal with weight-related health problems in the future.

Over the past 5 years since I started, though, I've had a lot of things happen in my life and I think of most of them in kind of the reverse way...like challenges that would normally have caused me to seek comfort through food...all challenges I've overcome and not let the weight pile back on. My weight has stayed the same and gone down for the past 5 years, no regains at all. So in that way I view them as signs of my success. There are a couple of things I am not comfortable sharing here but a few that I can tell you about...a HUGE crazy tornado that destroyed my home completely as well as part of my town and some acquaintances lost their lives...divorce after 9 years of marriage...relocating to another city...several job changes...sick parents...remarriage (which was a VERY happy yet stressful change)...mother-in-law became paralyzed and died from cancer...father-in-law committed suicide...and more.
