How close do you get your nutritional percentages?

Do people aim to get it spot on? Because I don't think I ever have. Usually my protein is 2/3% under and my fat and carbs a little over.
And is the percentages the same for everyone or does MFP calculate personal ones?

I don't even try to eat up or down to the numbers.

Sodium, though...I am way out of control on sodium and really need to get my *kitten* in gear on that. I wish there were low sodium pickles, lol.

you can do custom macros based on how you choose to structure your food. my preference is to low carb, so i have my macros set at something like 10% carbs, 35% protein, 55% fat (i think... i might have those reversed). i basically get as close as i can without going over, but if i do go over i make sure it's in the fat or protein side, NOT carbs. i always have a hard time hitting my protein.

if you're doing low-fat, you might want to swap that around so that you've got more room for grains and fruits but keeping the fat low.

I try to get as close as I can, but a few percentage points either way is not a big deal (although, I do get VERY excited when I hit things dead-on). I try to preplan my days as much as possible to ensure that I'm on track.

Since I restrict carbs, I always aim to keep those below 50 grams a day and that remains my main focus.

I aim to hit minimum targets (fixed in grams) for protein and fat, and then the rest can come from wherever. Overall calorie goal is important, too. The way MFP works is that if you log any exercise, your targets for each macronutrient go up -- it is keeping a fixed percentage for each macro. I ignore that and just know that I need to hit x grams of protein, hope to hit at least y grams of fat, and then the rest can come from wherever I like.
