Getting up and out of bed INCREASES your metabolism for the day. Metabolism runs 24/7 or you'd be dead. All food and drink have TEF, so that doesn't increase it since it's already a given.
There is so much misinformation and broscience from the diet/fitness industry on food/drink in the morning "starting" one's metabolism. It's ALWAYS running.

I'm interested to know this too, as it seems my metabolism is extremely slow. I've researched it a bit and know that green tea kickstarts it in the mornings apparently...

Stuff with stimulants in will increase your metabolism a little.

Eating at ANY time increases your metabolism, but you'll burn considerably less calories than you ingest, so that's not a great strategy!... a bit like going for a drive around the block because you're trying to save money on fuel.

Best bet if you want to increase your metabolism is to do some exercise.
An hour's vigorous exercise will not only put someone that has a slow metabolism for their height/weight above someone that has a faster metabolism, but also has significantly greater health benefits than consuming whatever the latest fad food/drink is from what I've seen.

Nope. That's TEF. Already figured in from consumption of any food/drink.
If you have a "slow" metabolism, then you may have a hormonal problem you're unaware of. If not, then the "slow" metabolism some believe they have is usually a perception of not getting results they expect, but reality is that they more than likely are overestimating how much they are consuming/burning.

I don't eat breakfast and have steadily lost weight, have an apple around 11.30am then lunch at 1pm.

Breakfast would be wasted calories for me..
