Worried a bit, please advise

well i have searched the internet from corner to corner and i have found alot of info on ppl seeking to loose 2 pounds per week but nothing on ppl who are trying to maintain it orgain it back. I figured i would post this here and see what you all have to say about it.

I recently started eating healthy there a few months back, a huge change from the types of food i was accustomed to living where i lived. So i chnged my diet durasticly and started loosing weight fast.

Nowadays im a little worried, in only a month or two prob longer i dont know, i have somehow managed to loose 30 - 40 pounds without really trying at all, i am still loosing a regular 2 pounds a week or so from doing nothing at all really, It's got me a little worried...i tend to eat over 1200 calories now just to try and see if my weight will stabalize or not but so far seems to keep lowering little by little....

Is there something wrong with me do you think or is it all in my head cause i know it aint normal for someone to just loose weight as easily as what i have or still am by doing hardly anything. Got me a little spooked that the scale keeps telling me im loosing weight, Having to make new holes in my belt is also assuring that i am in fact loosing weight. What do you guys think?

Basically if you eat more calories than your body needs you will gain weight. If you eat less calories than your body needs you wil lose weight.

You need to change your settings on here to MAINTAIN or GAIN depending on what you are actually trying to do now. Also ensure you have your activity setting correct :)

Unless you are very short, then really you shouldn't be eating less than 1200 cals a day, and that's when you are trying to lose weight.

To be losing that much weight so quickly I would presume you had a large amount of weight to lose, or you haven't been eating anywhere near as much as you should have been.

Go careful.... your body is meant to last you for many years and needs to be treated well :)

Of course if you truely have been eating the correct amounts (including weighing your food) and have your activity settings etc correct, then maybe a trip to the doctors might be in order.

You say you're eating "over 1200 calories now", meaning... what, you were eating 1200 or less than that before? If that's true, then that's probably why you're losing weight. That's not a maintenance-level amount of calories and would be too low for most people.

You need to calculate your BMR and TDEE and figure out how many calories you are burning daily, then eat them back. A lot of healthy foods are much less calorie-dense than junk foods, so it's really important that you measure and weigh your foods and put them into your food diary. I suspect you are just not eating enough calories. It's possible to increase your calorie intake by eating healthy but higher-calorie foods.

Also you should make sure you are getting the correct amount of protein, fat, and carbohydrates for your body.

if you're losing too much weight, eat more... simple.
  • Hey guys, thank you so much for the resposnse. I have infact been eating 1200 calories or a lil more the past while, im pretty new to the weight loss thing, I took the BMR test as Buoyant soul instructed, turns out i burn 1878 just laying around, TDEE says i burn 1883 so i guess that could be a pretty good reason as to why im still loosing weight, i have been keeping track calorie wise as of late and i 2000 calories only once this week so far.

to answer someone' elses question, i started out at 224 - 226 lbs and i am now at 189lbs in a few short months...again im not sure if that is healthy or not but thats why i came here in the hopes of figuring some of this stuff out.
