My recommended calorie intake for the day is 2000. I plan to do 5*45mins workouts through the week. So is the 2000 cals the result of what I need daily plus the (expected) workout cals? Or does it mean if I did nothing for the day then I should consume 2000 cals and when I work out I eat the extra cals it says i've just burnt?

As far as I can tell from my own page the workouts you say you'll do are a goal and are not part of your daily total. I think your daily total calories only takes into account your daily activity level and height/weight. The calories burned from those workouts give you extra calories for the day.0
