Thank you. Purchased and prepared steel cut oatmeal. It takes kind of gritty. Found out that rolled oatmeal has the same nutritional value. Will finish the bag, hopefully I will find recipe for a protein bar. Have a great day.0

Yeah even instant has the same nutritional value I believe... so I go with that because you can't beat 1.5 minute in the microwave.0

steel cut, less sugar(by a gram), lower on the GI(Glycemic Index) and fewer calories 140 versus 160. Negligible for most people.0

Steel-cut is my favorite. If it's gritty it's undercooked. My favorite method is in a rice cooker with a timer. I combine the oats, water, and a pinch of salt in the evening and set the porridge cycle to complete at breakfast time. Of course most of us don't have a new-fangled rice cooker, so I think the soak time is the key. If your diet allows, a splash of heavy cream is divine.0
