Ok plus size ladies I need some help. I really enjoy running but I have yet to find a sports bra that "supports" my hobby. Current size: 40J
Suggestions greatly appreciated!

I double up! Find one that is tighter and one looser....and wear two at a time. I also have worn a sports bra and then one of those tanks with the built in bra over the top of it. Gives you a little more support.
Good luck!0 -
I typically wear one soft real bra, a tight sports bra (wrong size) over that, and a built in bra shirt over that! I know I am not the only large girl that needs a reliable bra, someone has to make something. :grumble:0
-
I use an Enell bra for rebounding. Holds up really well.
A couple more brands that good reviews: Moving Comfort and Shock Absorbers0 -
Wish I had this problem... I wear a bog standard sports bra from matalan or primark and I'm fine. Currently 34b though.
My bf had big boobs and breast fed and grew, I had small, breastfed and shrank. So unfair...0 -
I wear my regular bra, plus a sports bra on top of that (Moving Comfort brand). It's ridiculous how hard it is to find a supportive sports bra for those of use with "abundant blessings."0

Glamorise!! They are like 25-30 bucks but worth every penny!0

I've done this before too... or worn multiple sports bras like someone else suggested.
Sidenote: If you find yourself with smaller girls later, I now fit into the Victoria's Secret sports bras and they are fantastic. The one I have has "maximum support" and I find it really helps. No more pain! They only go to 40DD (North American sizing)...so that may not help you but maybe others reading the thread.
ETA: I love your username0 -
I wear Energise. The girls are secure, but its not a cheap bra. But it is worth it for me.0

sports bras work best in a size or two smaller..... and if you're really big, then double up0 -
Try TitleIX (website or catalog).0

I got a smaller size than usual.
Also I picked mine by taking a selection into the changing room and bouncing up and down in them in front of the mirror! Bought the one with the least jiggling!
I also wear a tight tank top under my looser t-shirt that I run in. I guess this is kind of doubling up.0 -
I buy my sports bras a few sizes smaller and also double up! The perks of being a woman!0

Panache and Shock Absorber.0

Check out ladygrace.com. They have a good selection of large bras. After losing 100 lbs., I'm now able to go to a department store for bras. (It's been 28 years since I last was able to do that.) Anyway, now I like Wacoal Sports Bra!!! I'm not sure how large they go, but worth checking into. Quite pricey ($65) but to save the girls, well worth it.0

I take that back, just tried it again and this time it worked, thank you!0 -
Thank you all!0

If you have to wear more than one sports bra, you're wearing the wrong size and/or kind.0
-
40J? Holy hell! What do you wear on your back as a counter weight? That's gotta be rough to run with.0
-
I'm around the same as you OP and I've also been having a tough time finding a sports bra. I've been to every sports store in my area. I may give Ladygrace a try; either way thank you for creating this thread because I've been looking.0

A Triumph 'Doreen' (hideous) one or two back and cup sizes too small and a very good supportive bra of your choice.:flowerforyou:0

I wear 1) Enell brand bras which are my favorite. They are front hooks and remind me of my gma's bra but they work. I still wear my regular bra under all my sports bras; 2) panache do well for me too; 3) I recently bought 3 moving comfort bras which I am surprising happy with. I do spin and walk with them all. I order them from barenecessities.com. I have been able to find Enell brand bras in Fleet Feet. If you go to each brands website it can tell you if you can find them locally. Note that Enell uses a different sizing scale i.e. sizes are 1 to 5. I am a 36G and get a 3 which is snug or 4 which is a more comfortable fit.0

General question, does your chest shrink with your weight?0

General question, does your chest shrink with your weight?
If by chest you mean breasts, YES! I went from a DDD to a B. Luckily my booty decided to stay!0 -

Oh thank god, I hope mine go down.0 -
Wow! I am nowhere as big as you, but I also have to wear 2 bras, one regular and one sports bra.
After multiple washings the sports bras kind of wear out. So make sure that they still fit you snug and try bouncing up and down--if there is a lot of movement then get rid of the bras. (donate them).
I am so glad that you posted this topic. I have often seen bigger ladies on the treadmill or ellyptical and their "girls" are majorly jiggling and I got to think that it has to HURT!
I found a sports bra that I really like at ****'s sporting store, called "heat gear". When I put it on, it took my breath away at first, but then I loved it.
Wouldn't think about working out without wearing 2 bras.
Will add you as a friend. I also am working on being a runner. I love your enthusiasm.0 -
My best sport bra is a Wacoal with underwire. It keeps the girls snug and from bouncing. Not sure how large they go in cup and band size though?0
-
I bought my sports bra from Lane Bryant. I believe it's the Cacique brand. It'll cost around $40, but Lane Bryant always has sales going on. I recommend signing up for their e-mail or text clubs. ^_^.0

I really hope mine will shrink! Herroom.com has good bras. Have you been measured lately? They have really good instructions too. I didn't see your size but if you have been losing weight you may be smaller.0
-
I'll vote for shock absorber bras too. Great support for running, no pain.0

General question, does your chest shrink with your weight?
For most women yes. Mine does, but not much...:grumble: I know most women wouldn't mind not losing their boobs, but for me it's getting really hard to find bra's. My band size goes down faster than my boobs.
To the OP:
I vote for shock absorber (pricey, but watch amazon for sales...I got the Ultimate Run for $23.70 not to long ago) and glamorise. I actually wear my glamorise sports bra as a regular bra right now. Oh and for reference I'm a 38F.0
