Here We Go Again

So, I've done ok. Not brilliant, but well.

I'd lost about 7lbs, and changed my lifestyle around, but last week I "fell off the wagon" big time, and chomped my way through all the things I'd cut from my diet. This was partly due to work stress (no excuse) and mostly due to having a few friends stay at my place for a few days (not really an excuse either, but it's all I've got :P).

Even though I still maintained my weights and cardio fitness plan, I reckon I've probably put about half that 7lbs back on in a week, which makes me feel pretty rubbish as it took about a month to lose, so after much kicking my own *kitten*, it's back to it.

So, tomorrow, I begin again.

I've found that I do best when I don't totally cut things from my diet. Moderation has been working for me.
Don't fret about the last week....you've got a plan and the desire...that's more than half the battle.
    You've got this.

Hey! I've done that before. What has worked for me is #1 not to have it in the house. #2 Absolute depravation of the things i love don't work. #3 I have my meals planned. written on a dry erase board. Mainly easy to prepare foods during the week and a cheat day on Sunday(or every other sunday) So cheat days are planned. I've been on this diet long enough to plan a cheat in the meal and not go over calories. #4 When I have friends over I know it will be a challenge to keep within my calorie limit.(They always come to my house because i'm a Chef lol) So those days are always cheaters. If i do go over my limit, the day before or after I usually spend a little more time in the gym.You will be fine! Sometimes it takes falling off the wagon to reevaluate things put them in perspective then make small changes. I appluad you for not giving up. Kind regards

I lost about 30lbs and also put it all back on. I let all the stress of my life side track me and convince me the weight loss was on the bottom of the list.

Started back up 2 weeks ago without cutting out all of my favorite things, just making sure they fit in my calorie budget.

But then...I had/am having a heart health scare. It is amazing how motivating a life threatening scare can be lol. I have 4 little kids that I NEED to be around for. I'm 34 years old...too young, IMO to be dealing with this. It is literally impossible for me to eat anything that isn't 'heart healthy' right now. I'm even struggling to get my calories in because I'm in such a hurry to drop this weight and improve that pesky 'obesity' risk factor. I would advise against waiting for life threatening things to happen to kick your butt into gear. Easier said than done, I know. But if my story can motivate you even a tiny bit, I'm glad I posted.

Stop cutting foods out of your diet and simply eat within your caloric restrictions. In my opinion, any food restrictions you make now will also need to be maintained when you are at your goal weight. So eat what you love, just... eat within your calories. It's not that hard, much more sustainable, and erases any bad relationship to food that might exist (for most people).

We all have bad days, and bad weeks. The long term goal is to have more good ones than bad ones.

A lot of that weight you put on might be the dreaded water weight, which will come back off quickly.

    Good Luck!
  • Thanks for all the advice and comments everyone. So glad I posted now as it's helped a lot. The trouble with me is I'm really greedy with sweet food, if they're in the house I can't rest knowing they're there, but I don't crave them if they're not there, so it's easier for me to cut everything chocolatey out of my diet rather than risk a binge.

Last week I stocked up to be a good host, and of course all the leftovers were there waiting to tempt me. I chomped my way through a good deal of them, but gave the rest to my friend today (who now thinks I'm amazing ????) , so I have a healthy house again.

You're right that I shouldn't cut out the things I love though, so I guess the best thing to do is to buy a treat one bar at a time, until my greedy side has been better trained
