I want to start Insanity but, Im concernesd. I weigh about 260, and Im not in shape, at all...duh. Lol. All I do at this point is walk on my treadmill for 30 min.
A few of my friends are discouraging me from doing it. I know it is going to be hard. I was curious to see if any of you have started this work out being really super out of shape. I believe I can work my way up, just doing what I can. It may take a phase or 2 or 3! Lol. Any stories, advice would be most helpful.

As long as you know going into it that it's going to be hard and you take breaks when you need to I see no reason not to try. I'm not really in shape but I'm not really out of shape. I can comfortably jog for 30 minutes and insanity kicks my butt, I'm dripping with sweat and exhausted by the end of it.0

Insanity is really challenging, even if you are in great shape. If you feel comfortable, give it a try and do what you can, but absolutely do not be discouraged if you cannot get through it. There are a lot of big compound movements like jumping, squats, lunge-type exercises, burpees, push-ups, and what have you. Before you actually start the program, there's an assessment DVD that you do. You do this every two weeks to measure your progress. The workouts in the assessment are not as difficult as an actual workout, but there are some movements that are used in each workout. Maybe give the assessment DVD a whirl, see how you feel about it, then go from there. Once again, do not get discouraged if you have trouble with it. It's designed to be difficult and the disclaimers on the DVD will tell you it's not for everyone.
Best of luck!0 -
I suggest Turbo Fire. You will burn lots of weight and have fun with it. After you are done with TF then you
can do insanity.
Insanity is for someone who already did lots of hi/med intensity work out before.
Insanity has lots of push up. Ski in the plank position. And lots of jumping..
If you only can do 50%e work out you can not get the benefits from it.
It would be waste of you.. and the chance of getting hurt is also very high.
Check out this 15 mins from Shane T , this is just insanity warm up...

Hey best advice I can give you is dont give up.I have lost a total of 50 pounds in 4 months with Insanity. I started at 190 I now weigh 140 went from a size 12/13 to a 6. There will be days you want to quit and give up but think of your goal and tell yourself get through today and two months from now you will be at your goal. Go at your own pace you dont have to keep up with. Tanya your strengh and endurance will improve tremendously and week by week you will get stronger. Just get up and push play everyday. Are you drinking shakeology everyday as your meal replacement0

i started Insanity at over 300+ lbs. While I had to modify a lot of steps, I still was sweating and out of breath! As I got stronger I modified less and less. I have completed the 30 days a couple times over. I had days I got up feeling like I couldn't walk, but I kept pushing. You don't want to hurt yourself obviously, so listen to your body modify as you need to and as you work your way to the regular steps you will get stronger. I had great results with the program. I love Insanity cuz I like that crazy sweat flinging everywhere total body HIIT workout.0 -
I'm 5 feet, 222 pounds, and completely out of shape but I'm still doing it. Do it! Do the best you can and stick through it! You'll see results and prove others wrong.0

Don't avoid it because it is hard. Avoid it because it is dangerous. Personally, I'm holding out for the Sanity collector's edition box set.0
