Refocusing Needed - Last 10 lbs

The switch flipped on back in early March and have lost 50 lbs and have been very motivated along the way. This last week though I have noticed a decline in my motivation and drive to reach my goal of 60 lbs. I was pretty lax on my eating this past week. Like the switch was turned off. Mainly because
1> I realize that I have already accomplished a huge achievement and look, feel 1000% better
2> I have beat my last diet's weight way back in 2005
3> I am wearing the same size pants/shorts now that I did in college 20+ years ago
4> I am thinking these last 10 lbs won't make a huge difference visually
Any recommendations to help me keep the switch in the "on" position and get rid of those last 10 lbs?

Will 10lbs make a huge difference in what you look like well maybe not... but still it will make a differences on how you feel about yourself...
one point to be made is that -- as you know the first weight to leave your body is basically from your extremities. However, at the end of a fat loss diet, the fat is usually consumed mostly from the waistline.
So these last ten pounds are (most likely) exactly where you wanted to lose weight in the first place.... and now that you have a chance to hit it... you're giving up...
So my statement to you is just do it... stop looking for motivation from others... you set a goal... now finish it.. You have 10lbs that is nothing compared to what you have already lost...0 -

Thanks - you're right that I do need to lose these last 10 lbs b/c they are sitting in my belly and I still sport some side moob flab. If I am honest I probably have 20 lbs to lose.0 -
For therapeutic reasons, here's what crap I stuffed in my fat face since last Thursday after I lost my 50th lb. This list doesn't include some of my healthier meals
Thursday - ice cream, about 10 beers, steak hogie & chips
Friday - chicken parm and 3 breadsticks at Olive Garden, 2 hostess king dongs
Saturday - about 8 beers, ribs, 2 reece cups, 4 hostess king dongs
Sunday -2 bowls sugar cereal, lasagna, ice cream, steak hogie & chips0 -
Wow...this sounds like me exactly! I get to within 5-10 pounds of my goal weight and act like I've arrived! I get lazy with my workouts and apathetic with my diet...
That was a good sermon, eslcity! I needed that...thanks!0 -

The fact that you called yourself "fat" right after you said you didn't feel like 10 lbs would make that big of a difference visually, and then proceeded to fall off the deep end with binge eating once you felt you had "arrived" (to a certain extent) leads me to believe that even though you lost 50 lbs you are still probably struggling with some level of an eating disorder.
Did you ever explore that?0 -

Eating Disorder??? I must admit I am addicted to food. I absolutely love to eat and stuff myself on occasion.0 -
Great topic. I am in a similar boat. I do great all week. I have lost 40 pounds (10 before my tracker) I am at the lowest I can remember. Lower than college and maybe the same as high school although I have muscle now.
My issue is I "cheat" all weekend with my friends and family and then spend all week trying to get those pounds back off. I really would love to hit my goal. I am having trouble re-focusing on the goal.
I think part of my negative talk is hearing so many others (mostly at the gym) lose so much (as they are early in their journey) and mine isn't coming off so easy anymore. It is a bit defeating. I know I can do it, I must re focus and meet this head on.
Again, great topic and great feedback.0 -
I am there too... I want to lose 8 more lbs and then I will have lost about 59 lbs. I too am thrilled with where I am now which is healthy than I was ever, including high school. Lately my motivation is how I feel now about my body. I love it for the first time in my life. I plan my week around how I can best take care of it. My workouts and food have become a priority. So I would say perhaps break it in to 2 lbs increments. That I what I am going. So 2 more lbs to my next goal. Once I hit that I will go for the next two. At this point every .2 of a lbs requires discipline for me to achieve. So EYE ON THE PRIZE which is a healthy, happy, fit me! I realize now I am worth it and you are too!0

Eating disorders don't have to be super-dramatic like anorexia, etc. and are nothing to be ashamed of. I'd wager that most people here suffer from some kind of disorder, compulsive overeating being the most common. It's simply a skewed way of thinking that drives destructive actions, such as "stuffing your face" (bingeing), being "addicted to food" (overeating), viewing yourself as fat when you're really not (dysmorphia), that sort of thing.
I guess I'm asking if you ever explored the "why" of why you overeat and/or tell yourself you're fat. Oftentimes, when we untangle and deal with the emotional stuff behind the behavior, the behavior begins to subside. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on PM.0 -

I am in the same boat and I like this advice so I am going to take it as you are talking to me as well. This is close to what my husband was telling me tonight. :-)0
