Dinosaur Egg (it's a fruit)

Just sharing this, since I'd never heard of them, tried one today and it's really good.
They're speckled and look a little like a big peach from the outside, but taste more like a very sweet plum...yummier than plums, though. The skin has a nice, small burst of sour to it, so it's like a sweet n sour thing.
I think they're really good. Nobody I know had heard of them, so I thought I'd share, in case anyone wants to try something new.
Can't be too much variety!!

"Dinosaur egg" is a brand name for a particular cultivar of pluot produced by a specific grower, I think. Occasionally the term is extended to all pluots. A pluot is a kind of hybrid of a plum and an apricot, that's all.
Pluots are generally delicious, though there's a WIDE variety of flavor by different cultivar. Not all pluots are as speckled as the dinosaur egg variety. I don't particularly care for that variety, in fact: I find it less flavorful than many available to me.0 -

This. My work gets them delivered. If you look at the sticker should say dino101.com, which has information about the different varieties and a code indicating which specific variety you tried. Plug in the 4 digit code on the sticker in the site search here: http://www.kingsburgorchards.com/dinosaur-brand to see which one you tried.0 -

They rearranged our produce section and these were where the onions were supposed to be.

In case of Jurassic fever. Can't be too careful you know.0 -
One of the stores here call them that, others just call them pluots or plumcots or something. I like them either way.0
