Baked onion, salad and sauteed mushrooms.......0

Bacon, eggs and potatoes, with a tall *kitten* glass of ice cold milk. I’m talk 24-32 oz’s!
-or-
I also like portabella mushrooms marinated with a little reduced balsamic vinegar and Chianti, new or red potatoes with rosemary and garlic and sautéed asparagus or brussels sprouts. If I go that route I have a nice tall beer a stout or a port, or both or perhaps a nice red, I prefer Chianti or a Shiraz.0 -
bacon, side of steak- perhaps some steak wrapped in bacon and clearly beer.
Or wine if you're feeling saucy.0 -
Potatoes...if you want to be all traditional and boring.
Or, you could roast an acorn squash and eat it right out of it's skin. You could even add a small scoop of cooked rice or lentils or quinoa right into the middle of the squash half after it's roasted, mix it all up with a little spinach and some herbs/spices, and make an incredible, definitely not boring or traditional side dish!0 -

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've decided on: half the steak (because I can't afford to buy it too much) with an egg to replace the other half, garlic and herb roasted (with butter) baby potatoes and steamed mixed veggies.0

Corn on the cob, and a few slices of fresh tomato.0

My husband had steak tonight and I made quick and easy twice bakes potato halves to go with. Have a look at my diary under recipes if you fancy the idea0

cut steak into large chunks and skewer pearl onions, button mushrooms, zucchini and summer squash rings, and mini bell peppers. Soak wooden skewers in warm water for at least 30 minutes before you grill. Alternate veggies and meat and grill until everything has grill marks. Or to preferred doneness.0

I love steak with cooked squash. I buy the cooked squash frozen. It almost feels like mashed potatoes.0

Roasted asparagus. YUM!
I'd top it with some crab meat and Hollandaise and make it steak oscar!0 -
kale, sauteed with a little garlic and a drizzle of balsamic...a glass of decent Cabernet couldn't hurt if you were into that kind of thing...
Seriously? I thought that was just for a plate garnish.
Baked potato with butter, Asparagus sauteed in a little olive oil, and a nice Malbec0 -
whatever you do, chase it down with some port.0

Asparagus, roasted in olive oil with garlic and fresh finely grated garlic (yes, grated). Then sprinkle some parmesan on top of them when plated. I do this at least twice a week.0

One of my favorite steak sides, in addition to the usual baked potato of course, is a tomato salad. It's really quick and easy and so good this time of year with tomatoes being in season. I just do large chunks of tomatoes, with thinly sliced red onions, a quick balsamic vinaigrette and let them marinate while everything else is cooking, adding feta right before serving. Sometimes I even do balsamic marinade on the steaks which gets a little sweet and is perfect with the tang of the salad.0

Get yourself a little $3 behriner food mandolin at an Asian mkt. now take 1 carrot, 1 parsnip,1 wedge of kabocha squash and 1 zucchini. Use the behriner to make about 1/4 cup of paper thin slices of each veg. julienne 2 leaves of kale. heat a couple tbsp of olive oil in a skillet and add a crushed clove of garlic cook on med high. Now add the parsnip and sautée a minute and now add the carrot and so on. Add the kale and season with salt and pepper. Sautée until the kale is bright green. The veggies cook incredibly fast because they are so thin.0
