Sautee up a little shrimp in margarine/butter and garlic. Corn on the cob and mashed potatoes as sides.

    Spinach.

As a kid, anytime we had steak, we always had spinach to go with it. I like to add raw fries too.

Bacon, eggs and potatoes, with a tall *kitten* glass of ice cold milk. I’m talk 24-32 oz’s!

    -or-

I also like portabella mushrooms marinated with a little reduced balsamic vinegar and Chianti, new or red potatoes with rosemary and garlic and sautéed asparagus or brussels sprouts. If I go that route I have a nice tall beer a stout or a port, or both or perhaps a nice red, I prefer Chianti or a Shiraz.

bacon, side of steak- perhaps some steak wrapped in bacon and clearly beer.

Or wine if you're feeling saucy.

Potatoes...if you want to be all traditional and boring.

Or, you could roast an acorn squash and eat it right out of it's skin. You could even add a small scoop of cooked rice or lentils or quinoa right into the middle of the squash half after it's roasted, mix it all up with a little spinach and some herbs/spices, and make an incredible, definitely not boring or traditional side dish!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've decided on: half the steak (because I can't afford to buy it too much) with an egg to replace the other half, garlic and herb roasted (with butter) baby potatoes and steamed mixed veggies.

cut steak into large chunks and skewer pearl onions, button mushrooms, zucchini and summer squash rings, and mini bell peppers. Soak wooden skewers in warm water for at least 30 minutes before you grill. Alternate veggies and meat and grill until everything has grill marks. Or to preferred doneness. :)
