Tough love wanted

Hi, I have changed my lifestyle for the past year and have gone from 240 lbs to 198lbs.
However in the past week I have had a massive blow out and have started to put on some pounds again. This is a result of being on holiday with my wife and children, having no kitchen to cook in (as it is being decorated), not getting to the gym due to a shoulder injury and wanting to be around for family time/so not going to the gym as I would be when at work and kids at school.
Anyway, enough excuses, I am back and looking for tough love from you guys to get me back on the straight and narrow. I have worked too hard to let it all go. Please add me as a friend if you promise to chastise me if I do not get back on it. First promise is to go for a 40 min run tomorrow morning and keep within my 1800 calorie intake. Just because my shoulder is recovering it is no excuse for not going for a jog.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to making some new friends and tough love. Don't spare me!

Adrian, that's amazing! You just walked (or ran!) the year I want. Like you I have just spent the summer slacking, thinking it would be easier to hit the gym in the summer, boy was I wrong. Now that the kids are back in school I'm determined to hit it hard! I have just got my first trainer and it's clear she is going to kick my *kitten* on a weekly basis. But I feel stronger, and I HAVE CALVES!
So hey dude, get your *kitten* out there and go for a run! You'll feel better, your kids will think your SUPERMAN and your wife will love the stamina!

You're a brave man asking for tough love here
Well, sure, holidays don't make it easy. But if exercise isn't happening then eat less. I definitely get that there are circumstances under which exercise falls a bit to the wayside but you ALWAYS control what goes into your mouth. Even if you're suddenly eating out more or eating in someone else's house or surrounded by more temptation than usual or whatever - if only high calorie food is on offer you absolutely can choose to either skip it or eat a very small portion. Don't focus too much only on exercise as your weight loss tool, especially when you're not near your usual gym/exercise turf.
Not sure if that was tough enough so I'll end on a big angry grrrrr eat less dude!0 -
How many pounds have you put back on? How much of a "holiday" did you have?
You'll be glad to get going again, and have that number going back down in the right direction!!0 -
That's it, just because your shoulder is injured doesn't mean your legs don't work!
Everyone has a bleep now and again....just make sure it doesn't go on for too long, now get back to it!!0 -

dude... this is normal. if you think you need a kick in the *kitten* because life happened to them, you're wrong.
things happen. your kitchen is limiting some of your food choices, and your injury is limiting your exercising. sounds like the same thing EVERYONE has gone through.
you are not a special and unique snowflake. not in your successes, or your failures.0 -
OK, Tough Love....??!!
Firstly, congrats on the loss so far! Quite an achievement in itself!!
First thing - your shoulder. How have you injured it??? The chances are that you will be better off resting properly to let it recover. Running is likely to put quite a bit of strain on the muscles as the arm bounces around and delay it's recovery. I speak from personal experience, and the professional opinion of my wife who is a sports masseuse. Ergo you could well be better off going to the gym and getting on the bikes or similar that will not jiggle it around, depending on what you have done!
The kitchen is just an excuse. If you are going out, go somewhere sensible that will give you a chance of keeping in your goals. Alternatively, visit friends who are understanding of your diet, or make something simple at home with the equipment that you can use. You don't need every appliance and gadget to make an omelette! Besides, decorating a kitchen is a temporary thing!
As you say, the kids are back at school now as well so there are no excuses!!0 -
Congrats on your success so far!
The good news is that one tough week has no chance of undoing all the improvements you made over the last year. Forget about it and keep moving forward.
It sounds like you have a good plan already!0
