So eat something: sugar like chocolate or a cookie or something, just make room in your calories for it.

    .
  • One hard candy, like a Werther's--no biting down allowed. By the time you finish it, the craving is gone.

Eat a square of really high quality chocolate. Or dare to eat a peach.

Or eat whatever you want, just log it and fit it into your calories and keep track of how you feel, then look back at some point to see whether what you ate each day made a particular day harder or easier.

I keep a bag of 72% dark chocolate on hand just for this! Satisfies my sweet tooth. You could even pair it with berries if you like.

Also, flavored yogurt is a good alternative!

Is it sugar you are craving or is it high fat sweets you are craving? If it's the later you may be low on your fat macro.

Remember why you made the decision to be healthy. The craving will pass. The reason won't.

Fruit never sounds as good as it tastes. I have it every day and every single day, I'm like, "God, this is good!" Like it's a surprise.

It's so good and good for you. Give it a chance. :)

My two go-tos are dates (about 20 cals each) and Nilla Wafers (about 16 each). I can eat just 2 or 3 of either and feel like I've gotten my sweet treat without going overboard.

I was like you,...... so just had a small Bag of Marshmallows.
    Only about 120 cals!

Nothing wrong with indulging a craving, as long as you don't go overboard with it. If it fits into your calories and macros for the day, I say go for it. Just don't overdo it.

I had major cravings for frozen yogurt last week. So instead of trying to fight the craving, I just had went ahead and had some froyo. However, I made sure to watch my portions and also, I walked to and from the froyo place; the extra calorie burn helped me feel less guilty about it. :)

How many grams of fat have you eaten today? This may be your body's way of telling you it needs some.

I second the suggestions of dark chocolate. Just have a single square. Good fat, usually around 60 cals. Does the trick for me when I need that boost.
  • Well I had grilled chicken and a cheese sandwich (reduced fat) and green beans.. And I just had a banana(and after I ate a banana I feel a little better

If your craving sugar ...drink water and don't give into it. Eat something with fats/protein instead.

What's wrong with eating sweets? If you have extra calories, eat a cookie.
  • Maybe put a tablespoon of chocolate chips on fruit. Or dipping apple in a teaspoon of real maple syrup. Or if you are into diet prepared product, buy some sort of chocolate cake or cookie (pre-measured in small servings), or diet ice cream bars/sticks.

Rule of thumb is .4g of fat per lb of body weight. If you are extremely overweight it does go down a bit, but if you are craving fatty foods have some fat.

1oz Full fat Cheese is a great go to for me.
Also peanut butter if you need that sweet satisfied.
  • So far I'm 146 pounds and 5 ft
  • But it has a lot of fat

Blueberries! Cherries! Peaches! Apples! Raisins (be careful though, dried fruit can be pretty calorie dense).

so you should be trying for 55-60g of fat daily. Where are you at for today?

Yes, peanut butter has a lot of fat. It is the good type of fat, and it also has protein. BOTH of them will help curb hunger and cravings.

PB is a nearly perfect food, just don't eat the whole jar :)
  • I am not sure how much fat I ate today honestly :D I only count calories
