Unless you have health issues which are aggrevated by elevated levels of sodium there is no need to be overly concerned with sodium intake (within reason). Indeed, sodium is crucial for many of the body's basic functions and if you're active you may want to actually increase sodium intake.

USDA recommended is 2200-2500 mg a day. I keep mine below 1600 as much as possible due to High blood pressure. Too much sodium will cause fluid retention.0
