  • Hello there I am in the early stages of menopause. As I have quite a lot of weight to lose I still seem to be able to lose weight. Hopefully that will continue. I have been going to the gym regularly for over a year without much success in the weight dept. But now I will concencrate on diet as well as exercise. I am hoping that exercise will help me deal with menopause but we will see.

I am in early menopause (total hysterectomy at 32), and it definately slowed things down. Persistance is very important and muscle building is important. Each decade we lose a bunch of muscle if we don't work to keep it. The muscle loss added to the slow metabolism of menopause makes it worse. Consistency, and some weight training are going to help. It just isn't going to come off as fast as it used to. But it is not hopeless! Keep it up!!!
