I have this thing that I do, and I guess you would call it "sneak eating." I eat cookies and chocolate in my car with shades on and then hide the evidence at the bottom of the trash can. When I go to the store to get gas, I sling a little candy on the counter, and then hide away in my car with the guilt. Tonight, I hid in the kitchen (in the dark), and ate banana pudding by the spoonfuls. My husband made a remark about how I am not losing any weight this morning (in a nice way) and this triggered me to hide and eat a bagel. I used to even be really bad about hiding little nests of chocolate in my shoes in my closet for later. Why do I do this to myself!? And on days like this, I don't even log. It would just be a **** ton of **** that I don't want to think about. Does anybody have any perspective on this? I feel like I'm hiding away and doing drugs or watching weird porno.....

You should be really proud of yourself for "coming out" about it here. That is a big step and it took guts. Good for you!

Watch as few episode of "Secret Eaters" on YouTube. See if you can identify with some of the people profiled. It will also show you that you're not alone. It's something you should definitely work on or get some help to overcome it and it's obviously bad for you on so many levels. Do you recognize any triggers that make this behavior worse? Emotional, stress, etc? You might be doing it as a comfort or as an exercise in control.

Give yourself a short term goal to think about this behavior you have, why it might be happening, when it is happening, if you can resist it, etc. Get to know all about it so you can destroy it and move on to have a healthier relationship with eating.

I'll watch the video. That was great advice. I think I mostly do it when I'm tired....

I found this post on another site that you might be able to identify with:

Best of luck to you. I agree with Jennifur. Talking about it is a huge step.
