Weight loss plateau

Lost 9 lbs (209 down to 200) very fast ( 3 weeks). Went from little to no exercise to walking/running 3-5 miles 5 days a week. Limited calories to 1200-1400 a day. Now for 5 days I have been stuck. I have heard this is normal. But it is very discouraging. Any tips out there to start the losing again? 25 more lbs to go.

I'm on a plateau too. I lost 8 pounds and then nothing. I think I'm going to try ramping up my exercise a bit and not eating back all of my exercise calories. Gonna start it today.....we'll see if it works.

if you're moving that much, you should be eating more than 1400 a day. try reworking your goals (you're definitely active, maybe even very active), eat at least half of your exercise calories back, give it time, and see what happens. :)

bodies tend to go into shock when you start a new fitness program. water retention and all that. but you should be eating more to make sure that you're losing fat, not muscle.

do it right, keep the weight off for life.

    best of luck! :flowerforyou:

A plateau is 6 weeks or more of no weight movement while being consistent with consumption with/without exercise. Anything less is a stall. Stalls happen all the time with weight loss since it's not linear.

Continue with your program, be honest (if you ate more than usual, don't expect results) and stall will take care of itself. People who lose weight fast in the beginning seem to be much more susceptible to stalls.

Is there an " usual" time period that these stalls last? Iam on day 98, been a learning process for me with my calorie intake but I feel I found my number somewhere inbetween 1400-1450, I walk alot (fitbit flex) says I walk about 15,0000 steps a day and I exercise along with the dailyburn workouts and heavy lifting program with free weights. This is my 1st stall and it is now over 2 weeks as of yesterday and today when I got on the scale it went up a pound. I do understand it is just a number on a scale and I need to look at NSV but thats easier said then done when you are 5'0 and still 161 pounds have lost 29 pounds so far. Thanks for any advice and encouragement I didnt get this way over night and I know I can not change it over night I WILL NOT GIVE UP

I've had stalls of 2-3 weeks every month since the third month or something... totally normal.
