metabolism off due to hormones

Has anyone else had a complete hysterectomy and does NOT take replacement hormones? The doctor has said one of the reasons I am not losing weight as quickly as I have in the past, is due to my metabolism being low due to my hysterectomy and opting not to take replacement hormones. I just don't want the risks that go along with the hormone replacement. But my weight loss is just not going as quickly as I wish, which is 2 lbs per week. The first 2 weeks went well and 11 lbs came off, which I realize a lot of that 11 lbs was water weight, but still felt great! However, my weight hasn't changed in 2 weeks other than slight fluctuations of 1 or 2 lbs but it goes up and down around the same number as 2 weeks ago!! And I am calculating very carefully every single calorie and logging it in. I weigh and measure everything that goes into my mouth, and even log in calorie free soda (which I only allow myself one 12 oz. Diet lemon-lime soda at dinner because I've been told the carbonation can hinder weight loss), and have not gone over my allotted 1460 daily calories since beginning my gluten free diet. And I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. So, I can only assume the Dr. Is correct and my metabolism is very screwed up. I have severe asthma and therefore can only walk for exercise at the moment. I'm hoping as my weight comes off, my lungs will allow me to do exercises that burn much more calories. But, does anyone know how I can naturally increase my metabolism without harmful hormone replacement therapy??? Any natural hormones that will help that don't have harmful side effects? Anybody that has gone through this and knows what will help? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I had a complete hysterectomy at 38yrs. old and my metabolism is pretty low. I had to reduce my food lower then recommended to see any weight loss and I do 20g of carbs and exercise one hour daily. I also take a multi vitamin. It is difficult to lose weight, but being persistent is paying off.0

keep walking. it's the best exercise for losing weight and getting healthy i know of. and have your doctor refer you to an endocrinologist so you can find out what's really going on with your hormones and what you can do about it.0

Woooohoooo!!! The scale God's smiled down on me today and finally the numbers are moving again. And strangely, it suddenly moved 4 lbs., not just the usual 1 or 2 lb fluctuation around the same number. Tomorrow is my official 2 week weigh-in, and measurements, and for the first time in 3 weeks, I'm looking forward to it!! Hopefully, my weight will not fluctuate much before then.0

How about herbal solutions in place of RX hormones? Black cohosh, soy, evening primrose oil, things like that. I have had a hysterectomy, opted to keep my ovaries, but am still going through menopause. I could not take the hot flashes. I use a very small dose of synthetic estrogen; half a pill a day.... so the pill is a mild dose and I cut even that in half. It still works. Each woman has to find her own solution to get her body in tune. Try reading up on herbal solutions and see if you can help yourself along that way?0
