i have a huge bag of frozen chicken breasts, and i was wondering, can i just stick it on the george foremen grill and it will dethaw&cook it, or do i need to let it sit out overnight and then grill it? also, do any of you grill chicken on a george foremen grill? I have never cooked chicken in my life, so i dont know if this way will work ok. lol

  • You need to thaw it! It will stay frozen on the inside if you just throw it on the george foreman right away. :) My boyfriend always cooks chicken for me on the foreman. It's the closest we can get to grilling in our apartment. We cook 4 or 5 chicken breasts at the beginning of the week, so I can put it in or on anything. It keeps me eating right when I don't want to cook anything myself.

I'd dethaw it first--either put it in the fridge/on the counter in the morning if you want it for the evening, or run it under cold water (warm will cook it) until it's dethawed.

Don't just leave it out overnight - you can get food poisoning that way. The fastest safe way to thaw chicken breasts is to put them into a bowl of cold water. They should thaw in a couple of hours and you run less risk of food-bourne illness.

Thaw in the refrigerator - only what you will be eating Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder and a tiny bit of dried thyme or rosemary. Grill thawed chicken in the Foreman grill (time depends on thickness and if there are bones). Google George Foreman Chicken recipes - there are several that come up. You can cook more but freeze it - gotta be careful with chicken. Wash everything raw chicken touches (cutting board, counter, hands, etc).

You can put it in the ovewn without thawing it. You can also make chicken soup without thawing it.

Well not to go against everyone else, BUT, I throw mine on the foreman grill, right out of the freezer, and they turn out just fine. I have always done this as I like to keep frozen chicken breasts in the freezer.

To defrost my meat i get put it in a bag and dump it in some hot water... by the time the chicken is thawed the water is cold... and no chance to cook parts (microwave) and doesnt take 24hours... =]

If they are thick breasts then i would suggest Butterflying them... (Laying them flat and slicing them through the middle to halve the thickness.. =]

NEVER (!!!) let your chicken sit out over night. Thaw it in the fridge overnight OR you can run cold water over the bag until it thaws. Yes, this wastes water. The fridge method is preferred, but the water method is faster.

Once it's thawed you can cook it on the foreman grill. Or you can cook it in the oven, in a pan, even in the microwave, (although I don't recommend it). You can cook them frozen but it'll take longer and it's very important that they are cooked all the way.

Just take however many breasts you need and thaw as you go. Once the chicken is thawed it needs to be cooked within ONE DAY!
Also, it needs to be cooked completely. Google, "how to cook chicken breasts" and you can find easy instructions. You need to be careful with raw chicken. Don't get the chicken juice all over everything and what ever it touches should be properly cleaned after (I use bleach spray). I hope I'm not freaking you out, but you can get sick. And don't use the same cutting boards and knives to cut anything else, (veggies or whatever). Whatever touches the chicken goes in the sink. I'm a freak about this and we actually have a "poultry protocol" in our house. Make sure the counters get properly washed too.
