800ml red kidney beans
-630 calories
- 108 carbs
-45 protein
white rice (16 oz)
- 1350 calories
- 296 carbs
- 26 protein
Total
1980 calories
404 carbs
71 protein
So is the TOTAL correct? What i mean is, is white rice really 1350 calories (16 oz), etc.. is everything seems to be normal and not over calculated?

I know the calculation for the rice is way off (unless it's prepared some special, calorie dense way).0

I'm guessing you are talking about a 16 ounce package of uncooked rice, which would be in that range, maybe a couple hundred more. Cooked rice on the other hand has about 1.3 calories per gram, or 206 for 158 grams which is pretty close to a cup, according to rice packages.0

16 oz is about 475ml, which is about 600gr rice.
Dry rice is about 360cal per 100gr, so 600gr of rice would be 2160cal.
Cooked rice is nearly 100cal per 100gr.0 -
it is Jasmine rice, this is how i calculated it.
i have a 8 ounce glass, so i filled it to the top with uncooked white jasmine rice, and make it two glasses.
total of 1.3k+ calories when it is cooked. Is this way too high?0 -

The quick answer is YES, the numbers you calculated are in the ballpark.
Here is the detailed explanation.
Note that a lot of packaged rice in the US is partially boiled (parboiled) and the little bit of water introduced in that process reduces the macros per 100g slightly. If you have the Nutrition Facts from the package, you can just substitute those numbers into the calculations below. I got the macros from the MFP food database, which mirrors the USDA numbers.
1-8oz glass of uncooked (raw) rice = 227g uncooked (raw) rice
2-8oz glasses of raw rice x 227g = 454g raw rice
from the MFP database:
Rice - white, long-grain, regular, raw, enriched = 365 cal/80g carbs/1g fat/7g protein per 100g
So,
454g rice, raw x 365 cal/100g = 1657 cal
454g rice, raw x 80g carbs/100g = 363.2g carbs
454g rice, raw x 1g fat/100g = 4.54g fat
454g rice, raw x 7g protein/100g = 31.8g protein
Hope this helps.0 -
That 8 oz is by weight - not volume. Wrong method filling up a cup for volume when weight likely was given.
And uncooked weight, which would be much heavier after cooking in water when served. So at least you did that right.

If your volume and weight were correct, and you really had 4 servings in that 1 cup volume, then calories is closer to 160 x 4 = 640.
1280 with 2 glasses ful.
Close enough then.0
