Hey everyone, today I found out that I may have rheumatoid arthritis ! I was wondering if anyone else has this and does it prevent you from doing any work outs?
I already have plantar fasciitis, and now on top of that RA!, just wondering what kinds of workouts I'm lookin at.

Hi!
I have RA and it does affect my work outs. I walk and do pilates, anything thats easier on the joints. Some days I feel really exhausted and I hurt so I just skip the workout, although the exercise does help with the symptoms.0 -
Find out if you actually have it or not and then get advice tailored personally to you from your doctor or a specialist you can be referred to, they will likely be more qualified to advise you.
I think for anything like that though swimming is your friend.0 -

That's great! From what I've read anything not too heavy on weight bearing is usually for the best like a recumbent bike or swimming.
I hope your appt goes well and they can give you some help and support with it0 -
I have a coworker with R.A. She bikes 2-4 miles everyday. Everyone is different though.0

I am 26 and have Rheumatoid arthritis. I was diagnosed when I was 2 1/2. I had a flare in my knees recently after I had really ramped up high impact exercise classes. Now I have discovered the delight that is barre class. A PT runs the studio I go to and has helped me with a few modifications. It's really low impact and has helped strengthen the muscles around my joints. I walk, spin, and elliptical for cardio. Swimming is great but the pool closest to me has odd hours for lap swimming. Hope this helps!0

What you eat plays a huge role in how you experience rheumatoid arthritis. Many, many people have gotten relief by switching their diet, and many have gotten relief from water only fasting.

This sounds just like me, about 5 years ago - I started with plantar fasciitis, then went through all the tests for R. A. But ended up being diagnosed with osteo arthritis, in my hips, first, then my hands and my shoulders, my physio said to do lots of low impact exercise, she told me to walk, ride or swim.
I bought a treadmill and an exercise bike, as I have to stay in a lot to answer phones, I hate swimming.
I was told I could walk UPTO 10 miles a day but not to run or jog as that puts a lot of pressure on the joints, and I have used the treadmill every day since I got it and loved it, it died on me on Monday and I feel lost
You exercise, till you think you have done enough and if you feel tired - stop and rest.
I know what does me in and it's climbing stairs, I try to only go up mine three times a day, otherwise it's bad on my hips, message me and add me as a friend if you like, good luck with your tests.0 -
Yoga is supposed to be really good as is walking, recumbent bikes, elliptical machines, and swimming. I just started piyo with Chalene, and so far I can get through the first video.0

I have psoriatic arthritis. Resistance training has improved my mobility. I move better now and have far less pain than I did 10 years ago.0

I have RA (diagnosed about 10 years ago now but had symptoms since I was about 16, I'm 34 now). I took up running 2 years ago and lost 4 stone. This year I ran 2 marathons and planning an ultra for next year.
My worst joint is my ankle. It's got OA as well as the RA affecting it. I've got bits of calcification in the area that keeps catching the tendons and causing issues but over all, I'm better for being so active. I go through a lot of trainers and sleep a lot though!0 -
I have been dealing with it for about 4 months now. Pretty much all my joints, which is insane. Before I was doing weight training now at nights it hurts just to try and move my covers. I have tried 2 different medications and on Sept. 4th I will be seeing a rheumatologist to see what my options are. This things is making me really sad. I have not been able to work out and all my muscle gains are dwindling fast. I have been told that perhaps I started with a flare. I just hope that I can get this under control so that I can do ANY type of exercise. If anyone has any tips please feel fee to message me. I feel so all alone with this.0
