So I have severe exercise-induced asthma so losing weight SUCKS. I basically have to rest anytime I get my heart beat up. So weight loss is slooooow!!! Do any of yall have asthma or any other health issues that make weight loss even more of a struggle? How do you get through it?

I have asthma, but I've noticed that as I improve my diet and work towards goals, my asthma has really lessened. I'm walking for my exercise, the more I walk, the less asthma I have. I'll work up to working out when I feel like it's going to be productive. Also staying away from asthma triggers helps.
I use my inhaler at least 15 min before I go for my walk and I stretch really well too.
My mom had a friend who had REALLY bad asthma, and she was in good shape. She fought through it by running. She started with walking, then jogging, then running. Her asthma diminished and she started doing marathons!
Every body is different, so do what is comfortable for you, but I think walking is such a great way to start.
Also, a tip I found out... if you ever have an attack and can't find an inhaler or it's not enough, sipping on hot black coffee will help open your airways.

my husband has asthma and the more he works out and the better shape he gets in the better his asthma gets and the less he uses his inhaler in general and when he works out.0

I dont have asthma but I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and hythyroidism, the fibro and chronic fatigue make working out really hard. I have to just do a little and work up very slowly. If I overdo it my body shuts completely down also my muscles knot up. It is frustrating. I want to do more but I know I cant so I have to just go slow and know that I am doing more then I was 6 months ago.0

themommie This is really helpful to hear, I have cfs/ME & fibromyalgia and am finding exercising hard and have started to think i will never lose weight. I guess i just need to take it slow with the exercising as otherwise i seem to wipe myself out for days.0

I'm a CFS/Fibromyalgia sufferer, who may also be developing rhuematoid arthritis as well.
Exercising is a pain - literally!! At the moment, I can't walk to the end of my road without being in agony; my Dr has found an exercise referral programme where I might be able to take something like aqua aerobics so all I need to do is find out where the closest place to me is that supports the programme and keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't affect me too badly LOL!!!
Good luck to everyone here that has to deal with a chronic pain condition or any condition that makes it hard to exercise - you all have my sympathies and support :flowerforyou:0
