Chronic Compartment Syndrome

Has anyone experienced chronic compartment syndrome?
I'm a runner and I've been having pain in my lower leg, just on the outside of my calf, when my foot hits the pavement. I thought it was shin splints, but the location and the sensation (tingling, like pin pricks) points to CCS. I will schedule an appointment with a doctor, but I thought I would check in here to see if anyone has any advice.

I wish I could help but I'm not even sure what CCS is?? Had the same pains in both my legs until I started stretching after my runs instead of before. Just kinda attributed it to splints. Hope it all works out for ya!0

Thanks. Did it go away right away after the stretching? How bad was your pain? Mine is pretty unbearable, but stops when I stop.0 -
yeah it will linger a bit after I stretch but not long. It used to get real bad... I had to take my shoes off and walk home! Not sure mine was this CCS stuff but who knows. I'm still kind of a newbie with running 5k is about my max.0

Hey....I did ice for a bit but it didn't really work. I got new shoes and stopped stretching prior to running and its been so much better. I still get sore but I no longer have to take my shoes off and walk like I have a load in my pants! LOL0

After 17 years of not knowing what was causing pain and being told it's shin-splints (never knew shin-splints would last for that long), I was recently diagnosed with compartment syndrome. Not looking forward to surgery to fix it, but that's really the only way.
Your pain will subside once you stop the actitivity. If your pain lasts, I'd look into a orthopedic doctor who specializes in lower legs and have the test done to confirm if you have compartment syndrome. There isn't a lot of information about compartment syndrome on the web, but there's enough to help you figure out if that may be the cause of your pain.
