I use gluten on a shoe string on my facebook feed for interesting recipes. I went gluten free 3 months ago, my auto immune skin condition of over 23 years is finally going into remission :)

Just curious, are you going gluten free for Celiac/allergy reasons or just trying to cut out breads for diet reasons?

Also because Gluten free items are pricy, if you ask nicely some companies will give you free coupons.

I don't have any allergies that I'm aware of. But my doctor today suggested maybe I try a gluten free lifestyle due to some digestive and other health issues I have been experiencing.

She didn't ask if she should be eating gluten free; she asked for a place to find recipes or resources. Why does it matter why she's doing it?

I agree! gluten free is healthy for everyone, it does not harm anyone, you just have to be proactive with different fiber sources so you stay regular. Gluten creates inflammation is everyones body. 1 in 3 americans are on the spectrum of intolerance and don't even know it!

Unless you have experience with Celiac or other digestive issues caused by gluten, please don't go about citing statistics you found online that claim gluten is the devil.

I never said she shouldn't be going gluten free, I just asked because it affects what suggestions to give her. If she was doing it purely for weight loss reasons I was going to caution her that most gluten-free foods actually tend to pack on the pounds.

Since you mentioned you've been experiencing some digestive issues that your doctor thinks is linked to gluten, I would actually recommend getting tested for gluten allergies (there's a blood test they can do), but you have to be still eating gluten when they do the test for the results to be accurate. Just so you know for sure if you have a little leeway or not with what you eat.

That being said, there are a ton of magazines and online publications that cater towards the more gluten-sensitive tummies and still make some really yummy meals. My personal fave is Living Without as it also provides options that suit other food allergies as well. http://www.livingwithout.com/

And if you're really craving baked goods, these guys have the market cornered. MMMM Udi's lol. http://udisglutenfree.com/

However, don't forget that a lot of meals are naturally gluten free. For example, if you look at my food diary, my meal last night was steamed broccoli, baked fish and a bit of rice. That's all naturally gluten free without having to make any changes and the whole family likes it.

Hope that helps! Feel free to add me if you're looking for more meal ideas or tips on where to find decent gluten free products. It can be hard to find good ones that don't taste like cardboard lol.
